The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Performance Coordinator in its Performance and Live Art Department who will support the coordination of various activities related to the presentation of performance in MoMA’s exhibition program, which includes a new space dedicated to live and experimental programming in the heart of the Museum’s collection galleries, the Marie-Josée and Henry Kravis Studio, which first opened to the public in the fall of 2019. Exhibitions in The Studio have included work by David Tudor and Composers Inside Electronics, Okwui Okpokwasili and Joan Jonas, and upcoming programs will include Samora Pinderhughes and Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa. Additional projects may include work by Adam Pendleton and a focus on digital programming. This is a four-year fixed term position expected to start in November 2025 with a potential opportunity for extension.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Director and the Senior Manager/Producer, Performance and Live Art, works in tandem with other members of the performance exhibition team, including project-specific Coordinators and Production Assistants, Curators, Curatorial Assistants, Visitor Engagement staff, Security staff, Exhibition Design and Production staff, Audio Visual staff, and other departments.
- Assists with the implementation of performance schedules, acting as the first point of contact for artists and performers onsite.
- Coordinates with various third parties such as costume supervisors and documentation crew.
- Organizes and maintains green room supplies.
- Performs regular gallery checks as needed.
- Trouble-shoots questions from performers.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, drafting notes, researching projects, maintaining and creating project files, general office organization, and budget tracking.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and two to three years relevant experience in a theater or museum setting, exhibition planning, live performance, or similar are highly
- Organized, articulate, and professional.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite, and other standard office procedures and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail: visual and written accuracy and precision required.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Must work effectively both independently and as part of a larger team in a fast-paced environment.
- Skilled at prioritizing and multitasking, in order to follow through with a variety of projects that require immediate attention as well as long term care.
- Ability to maintain composure in a sometimes-stressful environment is a must.
- High level of diplomacy, judgment, and accountability.
- Strong knowledge of a broad range of contemporary art, particularly performance.
- Must be flexible with the hours and be able to work nights and weekends as the performances may require.
Reports to: Senior Manager/Producer, Performance and Live Programs
Salary: The salary for this position is $63,000 (gross) per annum
