About the Department

The Digital Learning Support Manager facilitates the seamless function of our digital learning support services and systems, playing a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience through effective technology, multimedia resources, and LTI management.

The ideal candidate for this role is a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a passion for fostering effective online learning environments. They excel in multitasking, have a strong sense of organization, and possess leadership qualities essential for supervising a team of student workers in an on-campus setting. This individual is tech-savvy, with a knack for problem-solving and a commitment to ensuring the seamless operation of learning management systems.

Position Duties

  • Supervise, schedule, and train a team of student workers who assist with digital learning support services. Foster their development and ensure a productive office environment.
  • Collaborate with technical staff (system administrators and engineers) to resolve Helpdesk tickets and integrate third-party learning tools (LTIs) into Canvas.
  • Assist in planning and leading training sessions and workshops to help faculty and students effectively use Canvas and other digital learning tools.
  • Contribute to the creation of digital and multimedia content that promotes the Center’s services and highlights its value to the campus community.
  • Help maintain and update the Center’s website and communication materials to ensure accurate and current information is available.
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation, including user manuals for office procedures and internal operations, as well as posting and communicating Center service hours.
  • Organize and maintain digital file storage systems, troubleshoot equipment or software issues, and submit work orders when necessary.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, sharing insights and ideas for improving services and operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a higher education environment service unit.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and creativity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Competency with multiple computer operating systems (Mac and Windows).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google Apps.
  • Tech-savvy with problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership qualities for supervising student workers.
  • Sound, independent judgement with an innovative and flexible approach.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and a positive, energetic outlook.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education Technology, Media, Communication, English, Education, or related field.
  • Familiarity with effective instructional uses of an LMS.
  • Experience scheduling and hosting meetings in Zoom.
  • Basic proficiency in media and web technologies/HTML.
  • Experience with digital design and software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Storyline, Canva, or similar).
  • Experience providing instructional support services related to distance education.

Environmental Conditions:
  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming. 

Physical Demands:
  • This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

Other Qualifications

$45,760 – $53,040 is the starting annual salary for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, Fresno Pacific University offers a competitive benefits package.
