Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention services, foster care, and mental health, operating across the Carolinas, Florida and Tennessee with new operations expanding into Kentucky. What will you do as Chief of Staff?


Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Assist the COO to set, carry out, and ensure completion of the organization’s strategic goals and priorities. Lead operational planning for new programs, quality, and other initiatives as directed by COO.
  • Coordinate compliance and regulatory initiatives (Care/ Quality/ Certifications/Credentialing), ensuring alignment across departments and timely execution of key projects. 
  • Provide research, data analysis, and recommendations to support decision making and planning. Monitor KPIs, dashboards, and metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Monitor industry trends, best practices, and legislature changes (across all states served) to inform strategic direction.   
  • Track and report on program towards established objectives.

Operational Oversight & Organizational Efficiency

  • Identify insufficiencies and recommend solutions to enhance quality and operational effectiveness. resource alignment, scheduling, service delivery, and documentation standards.
  • Lead performance management efforts across departments, driving compliance, operational standards, and profitability. Support compliance efforts, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and maintained.
  • Lead internal teams and coordinate with IT and People Operations to maintain system integrity and regulatory compliance.

Cross Functional Collaboration and Communication

  • Serve as a central point of coordination between the COO and Department Leaders to ensure smooth execution of priorities. 
  • Assist with preparing reports, presentations for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Represent the COO in select meetings, committees, and strategic partnerships when needed.

Continuous Improvement & Culture

  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements to improve organizational productivity and effectiveness.
  • Promote a high-performance, inclusive culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and mission impact.
  • Will use a trauma-informed approach in their daily work and interactions with others using the principles of CARE: Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Competence Centered,  Trauma Informed, and Ecologically Oriented.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in Nonprofit Management preferred.
  • 7–10+ years in program management, preferably in mid-to-large organizations.
  • Proven success leading complex cross-functional projects and managing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau/Power BI, and nonprofit CRMs (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; executive-level presence with ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Experience in nonprofit, hospitality, financial services, or regulated industries is a plus.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and passion for mission-driven work. 
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • This role is Remote/Hybrid in NC only
