Summary
The Associate Program Director, supervises the implementation of the Keiki Steps
project goals, objectives, and outcomes in assigned communities.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Works closely with the Program Director to plan, develop, and implement project
goals in accordance with the intent of the consortium and INPEACE visions and
missions.
• Prepare reports as requested by the Program Director.
• Confer with the lead teacher, aides and consultants, reviews activities, operations,
program updates.
• Work with the Program Director to ensure proper budget implementation,
purchasing, procedures for expense reimbursement, and financial projections.
• Administratively supervises Keiki Steps employees with clear and direct
communication concerning performance, expectations, productivity, and
accountability.
• Collaborate with the Program Director in hiring decisions, performance appraisals,
scheduling, training, employee development, disciplinary actions, and conflict
mediation; develops procedures and assigns work tasks to improve efficiency.
• Direct and coordinate administrative functions and enforce policy for INPEACE.
• Provide support and direction of the instructional, research and development, and
evaluation efforts of Keiki Steps.
• Act in the absence of the Program Director on operational and administrative
matters; reviews, interprets, recommends, and/or implements early education
policies.
• Identify and resolve issues regarding administrative matters; develop systems to
monitor academic and administrative deadlines.
• Regularly evaluate systems and services.
• Other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
•Level 1: Bachelor’s degree.
o Relevant college coursework, including core requirements, may count toward 4-year degree requirement at rate of 12 credits per semester.
o Experience in ECE or ECE home visiting may substitute for academic requirement at a rate of 2:1 (2 years exp to 1 year of educ)
•Level 2: Master’s degree in related field.
Note: when utilizing a conversion of experience to meet college degree requirements, only those years above and beyond those used in the conversion can be taken into consideration for the placement on the salary step.
Skills and Knowledge
• Excellent planning, organization, coordination skills, ability to motivate people.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
• Excellent writing and verbal skills required to prepare clear and concise reports
and to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences.
• Ability to analyze problems, develop effective solutions and resolve problems within
Hawaiian cultural context.
• Knowledge of early childhood and family community resources.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with internal and external
individuals, groups, organizations, and community agencies.
• Proven skill in working with committees/groups and facilitating meetings.
• Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, flexible, and ability to handle
multiple tasks concurrently.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Proficient with programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Knowledge of databases, preferred.
