Summary Job Description
The Donor Service & Fundraiser Support Specialist plays a vital role in connecting generous supporters with Direct Relief’s critical humanitarian work providing medicine and access to quality medical care for people affected by poverty and emergency situations in communities throughout the United States and around the world.
This position functions at the heart of Direct Relief's fundraising efforts, providing exceptional service to a diverse community of supporters while ensuring operational excellence across our fundraising programs. Working alongside a collaborative team of passionate, mission-driven fundraisers, the Specialist helps build and strengthen the donor relationships that make Direct Relief's emergency response and community health programs possible.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Donor Service
- Provide exceptional customer service to donors in a professional and timely manner by managing the Donations email account and responding to inquiries and requests for assistance received through any medium (email, phone, social media, etc.)
- Respond to requests for information and assistance from donors, members of the public, and coworkers in a professional and timely manner
- Write personalized thank you notes, tribute cards, and memorial cards to donors
- Issue donation receipts and acknowledgement letters
- Collaborate with and support members of the Partnerships & Philanthropy team to assist in building and sustaining Direct Relief’s community of supporters
- Provide supporting information to team members and management for personalized donation-related correspondence
- Validate employee matching gifts for corporate matching as needed
- Administration
- General administrative support for Partnerships & Philanthropy team
- Assist in the processing and administration of bequests and other planned gifts
- Track all donor service activities in the CRM system (Raiser’s Edge NXT)
- Serve as a super-user of Direct Relief’s online donation platform
- Maintain functional knowledge of the CRM system and all other software required for performing the role
- Events
- Support preparation, planning and execution of fundraising events and donor visits, including donor meetings and stewardship events
- Assist with event preparation and day-of-event duties
Desired Qualifications:
- Three years of relevant experience; four-year college degree preferred
- Experience with databases and/or constituent relationship management (CRM) systems, Raiser’s Edge: NXT preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and cloud collaboration platforms
- Professional attitude and ability to contribute to a positive, respectful work culture
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively, with attention to details
