The Per Diem Donation Development Liaison supports the mission, goals, and strategic plan of the Nevada Donor Network, Inc. (NDN) by supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of educational and development strategies designed to increase organ and tissue donation awareness and outcomes. The Per Diem Donation Development Liaison supports departmental initiatives and activities, as an extension of the Donation Development team’s engagement with internal and external stakeholders.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s):


Policies and Procedures

  • Follows Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations from governing and regulatory agencies.
  • Participates with donation development responsibilities for regulatory inspections and accreditation.
  • Participates in departmental fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Participates in planning and implementing a strategic plan for Donation Development.

Establishes and maintains a positive effective working relationship with:

  • Internal stakeholders, including department management, the NDN management team and staff in other departments
  • Hospital staff at hospitals in the NDN Donation Service Area (DSA) including senior leadership
  • Key physicians and providers
  • Transplant center and laboratory personnel
  • External referring partner stakeholders such as, but not limited to law enforcement, EMS, fire, hospice, and skilled nursing facilities
  • Other key stakeholders throughout the community

Donation Development duties:

  • Serves as liaison between NDN and referring partner agencies.
  • Conducts routine visits to hospital and non-hospital referring agencies, and develops solid relationships with referring partner personnel as established on current standards of practice.
  • Generates and evaluates statistics and reports as established by current standards of practice to assess needs and collaborate with peer Donation Development Liaisons to inform appropriate partner personnel when a partner is not in compliance with organ donation laws and regulations and/or does not meet standards.
  • Ensures the development and maintenance of tracking tools to monitor partner profiles which include key contacts and information.
  • Ensures timely completion of goals monthly including but not limited to keeping all database and reporting systems up to date.
  • Responds to real-time case activity at the direction of the Donation Development Administrator on Call, and as established by current standards of practice.
  • Participates in operational conference call as established by current standards of practice.
  • Provides on-site support during referrals and donor cases as assigned by the Donation Development Administrator on Call, and keeps key donation champions notified of progress on case.
  • Communicates effectively with Donation Development Administrators on Call and provides updates while onsite.
  • Completes real-time Electronic Medical Record documentation and all other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Conducts on-site after-action reviews (debriefing) with hospital personnel after donor cases as established on current standards of practice and deliver outcome letters.
  • Implements education programs and process improvements for hospital staff, physicians, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, EMS, and other referring partners to ensure compliance with donation regulations including: communication, education, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, libraries and other tools. These other tools include: partner programs and events, new nurse/employee orientations and continuing education programs for all non-organ producing hospitals/partners.
  • Participates in NDN committees, special functions, and community events, as needed.
  • Participates in external organizations such as The Organization for Transplant Professionals (NATCO), CMS, United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), AOPO, AATB, and EBAA as assigned.
  • Promotes team unity and leadership by example, serves as mentor to new staff and performs additional duties and projects as assigned by the department manager and/or director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in marketing, public relations or field of science, or similar area of study. Comparable work experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Healthcare, Education, or Public Health experience required. Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) experience is preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office programs and Windows. Preferred experience with Electronic Medical Record/Electronic Health Record review and documentation.
