Position Duties
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Administration of the department’s Learning Management System (LMS) to track employee completion of required training courses, certifications, and licensure, including keeping employees current on license and certification renewals.
• Working with department managers and supervisors to create and update employee individual development plans and job family career pathways.
• Managing the departmental New Employee Orientation and Safety Training programs.
• Providing day-to-day support for the implementation of an upcoming Trades Apprenticeship Program (pending program approval).
• Coordinating the department’s Paid CDL Training Program, including obtaining signed training agreements, scheduling courses with the approved vendor, verifying employee completion, coordinating drug/alcohol testing requirements, and submitting documentation to add or remove employee CDL stipends.
• Scheduling vendors to provide training for department groups or divisions (such as CPR/AED, First Aid, Ladder Safety, Defensive Driving, or Forklift/Bucket Truck), reserving conference room space, and working with the DGS Finance team to ensure appropriate vendor payments.
• Preparing documentation for the certification approval process.
• Sending reminder notices to employees and supervisors for upcoming training deadlines and certification/license renewals.
• Serving as a departmental liaison or ambassador for one or more countywide programs, such as Wellness or DEI Ambassador.
• May coordinate other related initiatives such as internships or new employee mentoring.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Training, Education, or related field; two (2) years of coordinating and implementing multiple training events in a business/work-related setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP)
• Training or learning-related certifications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Experience with database management
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or Document Management Systems (e.g., PowerDMS)
• Bilingual skills in Spanish, Persian (Farsi/Dari), Urdu, Vietnamese, Arabic, Telugu, Hindi, or Korean
