We are seeking a skilled Metal Forming Manufacturing Engineer to sustain and improve production processes for key forming press equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in SolidWorks, attention to detail, demonstrated hands-on experience, solid project management experience with Microsoft tools, and a minimum of five years in press-based metal forming environments. An engineering degree and experience with progressive die processes are required. Knowledge of progressive die design and additional fabrication methods (welding, heat treatment) are highly valued. Note: this is a process-focused role, not a supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Management & Optimization
- Sustain and improve production processes for forming press equipment, including:
- 20-ton single hit press (MULTIPRESS)
- 60-ton single hit press (Continental Manufacturing Service Inc.)
- Minster 600-ton single hit press
- 175-ton Cincinnati progressive automated press
- Coilers and Cutters
- Enhance process efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure consistent product quality across forming presses and related fabrication operations (e.g., heat treatment).
- Enter and Update ERP (Epicor) routers, Work Instructions, and Setup Instructions.
- Sustain and improve production processes for forming press equipment, including:
- Equipment & Tooling Support
- Partner with manufacturing, design, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and maintain reliable process and equipment operation.
- Use SolidWorks to support tooling design, modification, and validation, with preference for progressive die design expertise.
- Assist with operator training, as needed.
- Project & Continuous Improvement
- Lead process improvement projects with Microsoft Project to deliver results on time and within budget.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to drive cost reduction, efficiency gains, and quality improvements.
- Problem Solving & Documentation
- Resolve issues involving mechanical systems, tooling, and progressive die processes.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, process flows, and project plans using Microsoft Office tools.
- Safety & Collaboration
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in all forming and fabrication processes.
- Work cross-functionally with production, quality assurance, and design engineering to support new product introductions.
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years in metals manufacturing engineering, focused on process management.
- Hands-on experience with progressive die processes and automated press operations.
- Preferred: background in heat treatment, welding, and progressive die design.
- Technical Skills
- Proficient in SolidWorks for tooling design and modification.
- Familiarity with ERP Systems. Epicor preferred.
- Skilled in troubleshooting forming presses and related equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with single hit and progressive presses (20–600 ton range).

- Preferred
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other improvement methodologies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs).
- Comfortable working around heavy machinery and adhering to strict safety protocols.
