Position: Associate Campus Minister

Position Summary:
The Associate Campus Minister provides leadership for bringing students together around opportunities of faith practice and community. Along with the pastoral team in the Office of Spiritual Life, the Associate Campus Minister also works provide the University community with opportunities to connect with God, to develop Christian community, and to deepen students’ connection between the life of faith and the life of inquiry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and be responsible for the work of mentoring, developing and equipping leaders, and helping students come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their faith. This includes the supervision of Ministry Group Leaders and fostering relationships with Ministry Group Advisors, in addition to creating and implementing leadership training and retreat opportunities for all student leaders in Spiritual Life.
- Work with the Campus Minister in the planning, coordination, and implementation Campbell University Connections and courses related.
- Plan and coordinate worship opportunities on campus to include weekly and regular worship services following the Christian calendar and academic year. Worship planning is a collaborative effort with the pastoral team and students. This responsibility includes supporting and supervising the implementation of student led worship services, paying attention to worship trends and student need, and maintaining a working knowledge of worship best practices across denominational styles.
- Provide leadership for regular spiritual formation events in Butler Chapel.
- Support the collaborative work of Well-being; Vocation; and Diversity, Community, and Belonging initiatives within Student Life and Christian Mission.
- Serve on the pastoral team for the University community supporting the work of spiritual formation, care, and servant leadership.
- Serve on University Committees as assigned and requested.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal mandates.

Education/Experience:
- Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited seminary or university is preferred. A master’s degree in a field of study related to music and worship planning, leadership studies, or student development will be given consideration; ordination from an appropriate Christian tradition; and at least three years of experience working in the college setting or with young adults through the local church.
- Experience in ministry beyond young adults to include worship leading and planning, and education in spiritual formation is recommended.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The Associate Campus Minister must be a highly relational, people-oriented minister with notable skills in visioning, pastoral care and counseling as well as gifts in organization and administration. This position requires knowledge of worship planning and leading.
- Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
- Familiarity with/knowledgeable regarding Canva, Planning Center, Song Select or an equivalent worship planning platform.
- Knowledge of /proficiency with /advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication, including web/text/chat platforms.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Exercise independent and good judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet/set deadlines.
- Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment.
- Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours and occasional travel; including overnight stays.
