We are expanding to a second Izzio Artisan Bakery facility  in Thornton, CO.


The Shift Operations Manager will lead, direct and oversee the  bakery’s production operations ensuring the production of high-quality  baked goods. Must ensure all baking is compliant with the guidelines of  Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety regulations. Will also  oversee and monitor the performance of Production as it relates to  quality, safety, productivity, cost control, service to sales, employee  training and leadership development, to meet business initiatives  focused on growth, brand maintenance, cost engineering, and quality  improvement.


Essential Functions

  • Organize  and facilitate production line activities to ensure conformance to  established requirements regarding quality, safety, employee relations,  productivity and cost scheduled volume outputs.
  • Maintains  records for all phases of production relative to the quality of the  product, including plant formulation records, and those records  necessary for auditing purposes to include order completion and  scheduling of holiday production.
  • Review and report departmental  variances regarding productivity, labor scheduling, product weights,  and other key metrics. Help develop corrective action plans necessary to  achieve productivity improvements.
  • Report on quality defect issues and help determine necessary corrective actions to eliminate repetitive failures.
  • Assist in implementation of process improvement, including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.
  • Work with Production Planner in weekly production scheduling to optimize productivity.
  • Oversees  or completes staff scheduling to ensure production lines are adequately  staffed and coordinates with other departments to minimize downtime.
  • Develop  high performing work teams within department through hands on coaching,  training, and engaging team members through ongoing communications of  factory changes and performance.
  • Institute a Training and  Development Program for production personnel from date of hire forward.  Placement of workers in appropriate position according to skill level  and ability.
  • Promote teamwork at all levels and expand cooperation between departments.
  • Conduct  performance appraisals of the management team and recommends and/or  implements appropriate training programs to address developmental needs.
  • Supervise and train employees to make sure that Production SOP’s, GMP, HACCP and Safety/ guidelines are being followed.
  • Optimizes employee performance directly utilizing coaching methods and positive reinforcement.
  • Conduct regular shift meetings to discuss general work-related topics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred not required. High School Diploma required.
  • Applicants  are required to have a minimum of eight (8) years of food manufacturing  experience, with commercial baking experience highly preferred.
  • Applicants are required to have a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing teams of 50 or more people.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong math and writing skills.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Able to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
  • Maintain  regular, consistent attendance & punctuality. Must have a flexible  schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to  communicate clearly with others while maintaining a positive working  environment. Proven communication and teamwork skills are essential in  this role, which operates in a dynamic and cross-functional environment.
  • This position requires an individual to manage multiple assignments/ tasks concurrently with a high degree of autonomy.
  • English required, Bilingual is a plus!
  • Must be flexible to reassignment within the North Denver area

 

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • In this position there is a lot of walking, standing and bending.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • There is exposure to extreme temperatures (cold and hot).
  • There is exposure to dust and food allergens.
  • Personal protective Equipment is available upon request but is not required for this position.
  • Lifting 50 pounds frequently. All Lifts over 50 Pounds require assisted lifting
  • All machines are equipped with Protective guards. All safety protocols must be followed.

Compensation is based on level of experience, including  education, years of experience compared to requirement and food  manufacturing industry experience. The range provided is a guideline and  does not mean that all candidates or current employees will qualify for  the high end of the range.


Compensation Range: $80,000 to $120,000
