TITLE: Landlord Engagement Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Program Manager Chicago Rents
STATUS: Non exempt, Full-time
LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois, (Hybrid/in-office schedule)
SALARY RANGE: $44,770 - $59,400 (commensurate with experience)

Position Summary:
The Landlord Engagement Coordinator is a key member of the Chicago Rents team that focuses on landlord outreach and engagement. The Landlord Engagement Coordinator (LLEC) has the primary responsibility to conduct housing location services, conduct unit inspections, and provide landlord outreach and engagement services for various homeless service system programs. The LLEC will work on a team to interface with tenants, landlords, and property managers within the city of Chicago. LLEC coordinators conduct housing inspections, virtually and in person, that must comply with various Federal and local regulations.
Specific Responsibilities:
Program Coordination and Support:
- Under the direction of the Manager, work with external partners to review and approve applications for funding request
- Conduct initial, annual, and special housing inspections of rental units that meet safety and quality standards of federal and local regulations
- Communicate with property owners, tenants and other stakeholders regarding inspection findings and required actions
- Investigate complaints related to housing conditions, tenant damages, and/or owner neglect
- Develop an understanding of rules and regulations and create materials to support others in demonstrating compliance with them and create adjustments if changes to rules and regulations occur
- Adhere to internal established process and identify areas for improvement as needed
- Build and sustain relationships with external partners to aid in troubleshooting and processing applications and/or inspection accurately and efficiently
- Maintain a database of landlords and management companies that provide housing units to people experiencing homelessness
- Assist with developing procedural documents and/or external-facing materials to be used in coordination with landlord outreach and engagement, such as brochures and mailings, and develop landlord-focused content for various media platforms
Other Tasks:
- Act as an ambassador for All Chicago in all settings, demonstrating a commitment to the organizational mission and homelessness response system priorities
- Create an annual professional development plan and actively work to meet identified benchmarks throughout the year
- Respond effectively and professionally to inquiries, complaints, or concerns presented by staff, persons with lived experience, service providers, and other stakeholders
- Create work plans to outline and track the timely completion of related tasks
- Work closely with the Development & Communications department to assist in developing marketing materials and external communication for program
- Actively participate in staff meetings
- Update cases and other reports in Salesforce on a weekly basis or as directed by the Project Manager
- Comply with audits conducted by leadership staff
Requirements
Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to preventing and ending homelessness in Chicago and will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, social work, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent degree or comparable experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in property management, housing management, real estate, social services, project management, or a related field; experience with homeless services and housing programs preferred
- Experience in group training/facilitation and working with diverse populations
- Demonstrated knowledge of Fair Housing laws and practices and tenant/landlord relations preferred
- Knowledge of housing issues in Chicago preferred
- Strong understanding of the homeless population and willingness to house those most vulnerable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; organizational, conflict resolution, and computer literacy
- Ability to work closely with other employees to ensure a positive, constructive environment within the program or department and throughout the agency
- Excellent professional writing and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic and integrity
- Goal-oriented and results-driven
- Strong interpersonal skills, professional presence, and ability to interact with a diverse audience
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Must have personal reliable transportation for travel to multiple locations within city limits
