Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in the health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. About the Role
We are seeking a Database Specialist to support a contract with our federal client.
This is a hyrid remote role based in Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities
- Advise on issues related to database updates; primary liaison with staff concerning database updates and other database issues. Design, develop and prepare reports based on needs of the office. Create data management and report features in order to meet reporting requests and coordination with agency staff.
- Plan database upgrades by maintaining, evaluating, and improving a transaction processing model. Assesses database performance by developing a protocol for measurement of results and identification of problem areas. Support database performance by monitoring database performance; evaluating and resolving processing and programming problems; designing database management tools; answering user questions.
- Secure all databases by preparing access and control policies and procedures, implementing disaster recovery procedures. Ensure that all systems complete and maintain a current Certification and Accreditation, Privacy Impact Assessment, Annual Operational Analyst, Baseline System Information, and COOP Plan based on OCISO/ITSO best practices and requirements. Engage ITSO, AHB, and OCISO on a routine basis to ensure best IT practices and requirements are met.
- Assist both technical and non-technical staff and clients in using data properly which includes writing reports, developing training manuals, directly training to ensure smooth operation of the systems.
- Support application design by contributing expertise to applications, operations, and technical support teams. Collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage and maintain a range of databases (i.e., SharePoint, Excel, Inteum, TechTracs, ARTS, etc.). Determine the best method to organize, record and implement data which may vary with request.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Requirements
Required Experience and Skills
- 10+ years of data analytics experience.
- Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
- Strong skills in data visualization (Power BI, Tableau).
- Exposure to cloud data platforms
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data insights into clear recommendations.
- Ability to obtain a government clearance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Education and Training
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, or related field.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
