OVERVIEW

We’re currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic SHER Manager to join our growing team.
The SHER Manager will provide leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining SHER (Safety, Health, Environmental, and Risk) objectives and targets for all Erlanger, KY facilities. This role will ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards. The SHER Manager will perform daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual SHER audits and inspections. This role will collaborate with key stakeholders to build a Master Plan for future growth, leveraging proactive leadership to eliminate losses (waste, time, cost, etc.) and actively participate in Perfetti Performance Excellence (PPE) and the Performance Management Operating System (PMOS). The SHER Manager will also identify Fueling Margin Improvements (FMI) projects and new ways of working to deliver on financial commitments.Additionally, this role will manage SHER staff in Erlanger, providing leadership and coaching to direct reports and operations leaders to implement elements of the PVM SHER Program, as well as proactive safety processes to achieve a zero-harm culture.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop and lead the Site Safety Center of Excellence (COE), engaging stakeholders to maintain programs, drive improvements, and foster cultural change.
- Plan, implement, and maintain SHER policies, procedures, and compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate requirements; manage site security and fire protection systems.
- Support incident investigations, corrective action planning, and root cause analysis; monitor plans for effectiveness.
- Develop and lead site safety teams (core and support: medical, spill, emergency), ensuring staffing, leadership support, scheduled meetings, audits, metrics, and drills for emergency readiness.
- Manage department budget, including annual planning, forecasts, and purchase orders.
- Advise leadership on SHER compliance, trends, and corrective/preventive actions; measure, analyze, and monitor performance to identify improvements and innovations.
- Participate in high-performing teams to develop safety leaders, guide strategic direction, and advance TPM and Security Programs.
- Build relationships with Fire Marshal, OSHA, and other authorities; review process changes for SHER impacts and ensure proper management.
- Contribute to project teams to embed SHER requirements from design through commissioning/startup.
- Oversee PPE selection, training, and use; review contractor qualifications, inspections, and performance.
- Track and report SHER KPIs, statistics, and outcomes, supporting PVM’s core values of Care for Our People, Environmental & Social Responsibility, and Achieving Excellence.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field required.
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with ISO auditing schemes, specifically ISO 45001 and 14001 (ISO 50001 is a plus).
- Regulatory compliance experience across water, sewer, air, waste, fire, and OSHA, including managing relationships with government officials and conducting compliance reviews.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds occasionally. Must be able to push/pull carts up to 100 pounds regularly and up to 300 pounds occasionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, SharePoint) and experience creating/manipulating SHER databases.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills to resolve SHER-related issues.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Expertise in implementing SHER policies and procedures.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, activities, and programs simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and time-management skills.
- Ability to explain complex concepts and persuade others to adopt recommended approaches.
- Strong decision-making ability guided by policies, procedures, and technical knowledge to support SHER performance and compliance objectives.
