We are seeking a summer intern. The desired area of interest is Safety . The intern season will begin between May 2026 and may run through end of August 2026. The location is in Lunenburg ,MA.

Position Overview

The PJK Safety Team is seeking a motivated Safety Intern to gain hands-on experience in the construction and mining industry. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with various lines of business (LOBs), visiting job sites and facilities, and assisting with safety initiatives that impact daily operations. The intern will learn industry best practices, support safety programs, and contribute to fostering a safe workplace culture.

 

The role involves field work (3 out of 5 days per week), exposure to industrial hygiene practices, safety compliance procedures, and collaboration with professionals across the organization. A strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and leading by example is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in field visits to construction and mining sites, observing and supporting safety practices

  • Assist with industrial hygiene testing, safety audits, and Lockout-Tagout-Test procedure reviews

  • Prepare and maintain accurate field reports documenting safety observations and findings

  • Support development of multimedia safety presentations and employee onboarding materials

  • Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory and distribution

  • Provide input and recommendations on workplace safety improvements

  • Promote safe driving behaviors and compliance with traffic protocols in quarries and work zones

  • Collaborate with safety team members to enhance safety awareness across all lines of business

Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field

  • Previous coursework or experience in safety, construction, or mining preferred but not required

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in safety management or related field

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work extended hours, early mornings, or evenings when necessary

  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation for weekly planning and balancing field/office work

  • Effective communication skills and a willingness to learn from others

  • Safety-focused mindset with commitment to leading by example
