Duties and Responsibilities
1. *Maintain operating systems and develop and maintain associate software.
2. *Work with faculty, staff, and students to develop a system to improve and manage IT hardware and software, and other equipment and devices.
3. *Identify, analyze, and resolve/troubleshoot server and work station application problems. Escalate as necessary to ensure resolution.
4. *Make recommendations to the IT Director for the acquisition of hardware and software for new, upgrade and/or maintenance.
5. *Install and troubleshoot network hardware and software. Diagnose and remedy problems and either repair equipment or arrange repairs with service agents.
6. *Install and maintain security and virus detection software.
7. *Develop and implement an IT equipment periodic renewal plan including multi-year cost projections.
8. *Develop, establish and maintain IT procedures and policies.
9. *Maintain an inventory of IT supply, hardware and software equipment.
10. *Research, recommend, support, test, and maintain software applications that are needed by the faculty, staff, and students to accomplish their daily tasks.
11. *Implement and enhance backup and recovery procedures.
12. *Work assignments will include working outside of normally scheduled work hours-day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours, as directed.
13. *With guidance from or consultation with senior staff, manage projects of limited scope, e.g., workgroup network implementation, to include the supervision or coordination of peers, other professional staff, and student technicians.
14. *Supervise, train, and schedule activities of student personnel responsible for on-site support and troubleshooting of users' computer systems.
15. *Communicate and work with managerial, administrative, and technical staff to determine technological needs.
16. *Provide physical, hardware, and software maintenance for audio/visual equipment, computer hardware, and peripheral devices.
17. *Assist in supervising and managing the workload assignments of subordinate IT staff, undergraduate student assistants, and casual hires.
18. *Oversee subordinate IT staff in the installation of new equipment, and life-cycling management.
19. *Keep current on current and emerging operating systems for Mac OS, iOS, Chrome OS, Android, and Windows as it their operability to the unit's mission and goals.
20. *Perform certain network administrator duties. Responsible for security and access to the network.
21. *Provide input with installation, maintenance, and updating of Windows and Linux-based server systems.
22. *Manage the installation, maintenance, and updating of Law School's fee-based printing system for students, manage and reconcile student's printing accounts.
23. *Provide advice and offer solutions to IT related matters with IT and AV vendors and consultants, and UH Information Technology Services.
24. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or Learning Design & Technology and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for instructional technology and project management, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower pay band in the University of Hawai'i broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
2. Considerable working knowledge of information technology, helpdesk, or technical services management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts, principles and methodologies.
3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware and software associated with helpdesk and technical services.
4. Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluate, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
7. If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
8. Ability to work a variable work schedule; and work outside normally scheduled work hours including day, night, weekend and/or holiday hours, as directed.
9. Ability to apply principles and practices to determine, evaluate, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in and effective and in a timely manner.
10. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies in dependently and in a timely manner using books, manuals, and other resources.
11. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and documentation ,and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
12. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with supervisor, project staff, and customers in a team environment to accomplish tasks and to meet deadlines.
13. Demonstrated ability to develop and revise system plans, design documents, implementation plans, and training material.
14. Knowledge of various electronic accessing methods ,including file servers and services, databases, and Internet-related services such as web servers and clients.
15. Excellent interpersonal skills including customer service and collaboration with technical personnel.
16. Knowledge of Google Applications (e.g. Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.).
17. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
Desirable Qualifications
1. Ability to train users.
2. Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in applying and adhering to usability and accessibility standards as it applies to technology.
3. Knowledge of troubleshooting procedures & practices for hardware, software, & connectivity in a distributed computing environment.
