As the Lead IT Service Architect you’re responsible for developing HS2’s IT service Architecture and transition capabilities that embed the strategic application of live and available services to address business needs. The role owns the service domain architecture and ensures that guardrails and standards that guide the delivery of services are aligned to enterprise-wide IT strategy and policies

About the role:

  • Accountable for the IT Service Architecture and Service Transition capabilities within HS2 IT, planning and leading activity to ensure services are designed to ensure a high-quality, cost-efficient, outcome that meets business objectives. 
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide service architecture policies, patterns, processes and guardrails to embed the strategic application of live and available IT services across HS2. 
  • Establish and manage the Service Architecture practice and capabilities across HS2, leading knowledge sharing and skills development efforts and driving consistency across HS2 
  • Lead definition and continued maturity of Service Architecture frameworks which aligns to wider enterprise-wide architecture. 
  • Plan and drive scoping, requirements definition, and prioritisation for service architecture activities within Infrastructure & Operations.
  • Lead the design of IT services working with SLT and other key stakeholders across HS2 
  • Accountable for IT service transition activities within HS2 IT, ensuring the effective transition of services through their IT service lifecycle. 
  • Lead the development and maintenance of an IT service catalogue 
  • Oversee and ensure that interfaces between HS2 sub-capabilities are understood and dependencies are managed within the service architecture function. 
  • Actively promotes and embeds Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI

About you:

Skills: 

• Enterprise and business architecture. Able to align service architecture to the enterprise-wide architecture and IT strategy 

• Emerging technology monitoring. Able to identify and assess new and emerging technologies and their relevance and impacts to HS2 

• Business situation analysis. Able to investigate business situation to identify and analyse problems and opportunities, and contributes to the recommendation of improvements 

• Business process improvement. Able to manage the execution of business process improvements. Can also create new and potentially disruptive approaches to business activities 

• Service catalogue management. Able to contribute to the design and implementation of a service catalogue. Can also provide advice and guidance about service catalogue management processes 

• Stakeholder relationship management. Able to develop, manage and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships. Can also manage the collection and dissemination of relevant information and implement stakeholder communication plans. 

Knowledge: 

• Knowledge of service architecture frameworks and best practice guidance standards 

• Knowledge of a range of delivery methodologies (e.g., but not limited to waterfall, agile or lean), and their implications on service architecture 

• Knowledge of the technology service provider landscape, understanding where future chances exist for collaboration and continuous improvement 

• Knowledge of digital information technology, trends, and the opportunities they present 

Type of experience: 

• Knowledge of IT service architecture and transition frameworks and best practice guidance standards 

• Knowledge of a range of delivery methodologies (e.g., but not limited to waterfall, agile or lean), and their implications on service architecture, design, and transition 

• Knowledge of the technology service provider landscape, understanding where future chances exist for collaboration and continuous improvement

• Knowledge of digital information technology, trends, and the opportunities they present
