Role Overview
The Coil Designer is responsible for designing coils, creating drawing requests, and releasing the final coil designs to production. This role involves working closely with the sales, service, and production teams to ensure accurate designs and timely completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Drawing Creation
- Design coils based on customer specifications and requirements.
- Review and send finished drawings to Sales for review.
- Draw up sheet metal specifications from customer drawings, including circuiting and headers, and release the Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Retrieve information from coil drawings and drawing requests, then design the structure and sheet metal for coils.
- Create and review BOMs from coil drawings.
- Resolve coil-related issues in the shop by collaborating with production.
- Implement and review change notices as needed.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with the service department and sales teams to troubleshoot and support various issues.
- Collaborate with purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials and parts.
- Work with all departments to gather necessary information for accurate coil design.
- Compliance & General Duties
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and company procedures.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Attend work as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or as specified by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Experience:
- Design education or experience, or coil building experience greater than 1 year.
- Previous experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is preferred.
- Experience with HVAC or related manufacturing is beneficial.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Construction and/or fabrication skills are generally beneficial.
- Certificates, Licenses, or Training:
- Any design classes, HVAC courses, or related manufacturing education.
