The Physical Security Specialist job is responsible for Security Department program functions for all Boar’s Head facilities. These functions include, but are not limited to, assisting with program management responsibilities, internal investigations, assisting with drafting and reviewing security department forms, policies, and business processes, assisting with physical security assessments/audits and program analytical analysis of security trends and metrics/KPIs, assistance with security systems administration (access, monitoring, ect.), working closely with security department vendors, and reviewing and assisting with budgetary/procurement decisions. The position will work closely with the senior security leadership team and will require limited travel in support of Security Department initiatives.Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Security Program Administrative Duties:
- Assist the senior security leadership team with ongoing program management responsibilities, including tracking, reporting, and assessing program performance through data analysis. Work with the leadership team to identify Security Department improvement opportunities.
- Assist with reviewing and drafting Security Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and procedures.
- Supports and coordinates the security team’s ongoing annual training plans, including scheduling, tracking, reporting, and budgetary requirements.
- Assist with reviewing reports, such as Security Incident Reports, for accuracy and thoroughness, and provide input as necessary.
- Assist with implementing and tracking Security Department corrective actions to ensure the safety and security of our employees, contractors, and facilities.
- Assist with the weekly/monthly reconciliation of Security Department resources (Full Time Employees - FTE).
- Assist and track Security Department liaison efforts with Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies and First Responders.
- Working closely with the Information Technology Department on all security software updates, equipment upgrades, and/or troubleshooting equipment issues.
Internal Investigations:
- Assist the senior security leadership team with coordinating and investigating internal matters across the enterprise. The candidate will be required to work closely with other stakeholders and members of management across all departments.
- Ability to objectively assess evidence, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions.
- The ability to thoroughly examine facts, documents, and statements to avoid missing critical information while maintaining comprehensive and accurate records throughout the investigation process.
- The ability to draft clear and concise documentation, report writing, and presentation of findings that identify root causes and recommended corrective actions.
- The ability to handle sensitive information with care while protecting the privacy of individuals involved.
Security Department Contract and Asset Management:
- Assist with the review, support, and renewal of Security Department contracts for software, hardware, and consulting services across the organization.
- Partner with the IT Procurement Team to ensure that Asset Tracking tools and processes include end-to-end coverage from initial purchase, asset assignment, and ultimate retirement of Security Department assets.
- Work with Security Department vendors to ensure deployed security assets are serviced, replaced, and upgraded as needed. Liaison with these service providers to ensure the proper maintenance and functioning of the security systems, which include, but are not limited to, cameras, intercoms, holdup alarms, access controls, etc.
- Assisting with and providing coordination for security equipment installations, which includes ensuring all aspects of installation are planned accordingly and carried out to the predetermined specifications. This may include after business hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Security Department Budget, Procurement, and Asset Tracking:
- Assist leadership team with regular financial audit & budgeting processes.
- Assist security management with ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed. Compile, develop, and prepare data for the annual Security Department budgeting process.
- Partner with the Service Desk to ensure that Asset Tracking tools and processes include end-to-end coverage from initial purchase to asset assignment and retirement.
- Assist senior management with the release, schedule, completeness, and tracking of all Security department-related procurement expenses/activities (example: department overtime utilization).
- Work with outside vendors to obtain security-related quotes and invoices.
Security Department Audits, Assessments, and Metrics Trending Analysis:
- Assist senior security leadership team with facility risk assessments, audits, and site visits for vendors and/or company-owned sites.
- Assist with security metrics reporting, trend analysis, and management reporting.
- Ability to interpret data, recognize trends, and identify anomalies in security metrics. Use critical thinking to assess risks and evaluate the effectiveness of controls.
- Assist with recommendations of projects to improve the Security Department operations or procedures related to physical security. Request and submit written proposals for funds to be utilized toward these upgrades.
- Skills in collecting, organizing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative security data. Experience with reporting tools and dashboards (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint).
- Organizing audit and assessment activities, managing timelines, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Protecting the privacy and integrity of audit findings.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other security duties as assigned.
- Must be available to take after-hour calls, including during weekends and holidays. Which may include after-hours investigations and video reviews.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or related discipline. Willing to train/mentor the right candidate.
- Preferred but not required - experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and multi-team environment.
Skills:
- Demonstrate skills utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite of tools with specific experience and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, be highly organized, and work autonomously and under pressure. Ability to identify problems and apply creative solutions.
