Job Description
Experience
• Graduate of a Sterile Processing program with 6 months of relevant clinical experience; or
• Two years of experience in a relevant clinical environment
Preferred Qualifications
•Graduate of Surgical Technology program
•Experience in a surgical services or sterile processing environment
•Sterile processing certification
Education
•High school diploma
Certification Summary
•Sterile processing certification within one year of hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Basic computer skills

Job Responsibilities
1.Demonstrates efficient skills in decontamination, inspection, and cleaning of surgical instruments, flexible scopes, and respiratory devices according to manufacturer’s instructions for use.
2.Uses sterile processing chemicals according to manufacturer’s instructions for use.
3.Dons and doffs appropriate personal protection equipment.
4.Assembles accurate/complete surgical trays.
5.Participates with and monitors process of building accurate and timely assembling of case carts for emergent/urgent and elective cases.
6.Assists with maintaining department sterilization records.
7.Participates in sterilizer test parameters monitoring, e.g., bowie dick test, biologicals, and other forms of sterilization testing and responds appropriately to sterilization that does not pass.
8.Supports operating room functions in sterile core.
9.Fosters positive working relationships across departments and campuses with patients, physicians, families, visitors, coworkers, and vendors.
10.Complies with all applicable regulations, standards, and recommendations.
11.Follows hospital and departmental safety instructions, policies, and procedures.
12.Attends 80% of staff meetings/communication and job-related educational opportunities.
