Position Details:

The Opportunity:

The Membership Coordinator is responsible for coordinating development initiatives and elected membership sales efforts for the University Recreation (UREC), Student Recreation Center (SRC), and Chinook Student Center. 
 
Primary duties include planning and executing a membership plan with a target goal of $650,000 revenue generation annually; creating and implementing special events and promotional activities to drive elected membership sales; partner with university departments to promote membership sales; develop alumni and community relations; represent UREC at events and tours to potential members, students, donors, and sponsors.  This position is responsible for the direct supervision of twenty membership associate staff (4.5 FTE) involved in membership sales.
 
Additional duties include creating and evaluating survey assessments; overseeing membership and locker administration; managing membership budgets and student accounts. 
 
The incumbent manages a staff of 4.5 FTE involved in membership sales and other development activities. 

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary:

$4,061.90 - $6,092.84 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Business, Recreation, Sport Management, Higher Education or related field) and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area to include a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programs, such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience.

  • More than one (1) year supervisory experience.

  • Experience which demonstrates success in personnel training and supervision.

  • Demonstrated understanding of excellent customer service and facilitating an welcoming environment for a diverse campus population.

  • Experience which demonstrates ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and organize and execute assignments.

  • Experience which demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team.

  • Experience in development or membership management in a collegiate recreation or athletic setting. 

  • Experience in higher education recreation or student service setting. 

  • Experience in the development and management of budgets.

  • Experience in working with cash register or point of sale systems.
