Moody and Associates, Inc. (Moody) has been providing professional environmental services to the area for over 130 years. As a Professional Geologist at Moody, you’ll join a team of enthusiastic environmental professionals in our Northeast PA-area office located in Athens, Pennsylvania. This Project Management role will manage projects throughout central and eastern PA.

The selected candidate must have a strong understanding of state and federal environmental regulations, demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of the local hydrogeologic setting, and effectively manage field work being performed by project teams. This position is primarily office work, with some fieldwork required when needed.

Requirements

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for all aspects of project management, including proposal preparation, work scope development, scheduling, budget tracking, and invoicing.
  • Frequent communication with clients, coworkers, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and management.
  • Manage tasks on multiple projects in accordance with Moody's high standards of project management.
  • Manage and assist with the development of proposals, including scope of services and cost estimates for projects.
  • Manage and assist with the development and presentation of qualifications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Prepare project deliverables, including reports, permit applications, and work plans.
  • Manage the implementation of project work, including scheduling of field staff, coordination with laboratories, subcontractors, and vendors to purchase and/or rent equipment.
  • Communicate and coordinate project plans with the broader interdepartmental team to ensure successful product launch and support.
  • Responsible for on-going overall Project Monitoring and Control, including Project Cost Control, Forecasting, Schedule updates and Reporting.
  • Communicate project status and key product features to internal team members and customers
  • Perform interpretation of tables, graphs, data, and figures.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee staff.
  • Process submittals and update submittal log.
  • Assist with meeting minutes for on-site and owner meetings.
  • Maintain most up to date project documentation and communicate changes to appropriate parties.
  • Assist with the preparation of change orders.
  • Work safely in the office and field.
  • Occasionally work out-of-town, if necessary in all seasonal weather conditions.
  • Apply ethical and responsible decision-making skills while following all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities at times, if necessary, to achieve project and/or company goals.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or related field.
  • Pennsylvania Professional Geologist License required.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated experience in the field of hydrogeologic and/or environmental consulting.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Pennsylvania’s Land Recycling Act 2 Program and Phase I ESAs.
  • Oil & Gas industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical writing skills, efficiently and accurately performs QA/QC.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours when needed.
  • Experience with AQTESOLV, Rockworks, and MODFLOW software is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Follows company and client mandated safety rules/practices and is safety conscious at all times.

WORK SCHEDULES:

Average 40-45 hours per week as required. Weekly schedules may vary based on business demands. Schedules are typically confirmed during the workweek (Monday - Friday) during normal business hours but may include occasional weekend work to meet client demands.

Occasional field work may be required where employees must be able to perform physically demanding tasks working outdoors in adverse environmental conditions in all weather conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures, inclement weather, etc.). The work environment an employee encounters while performing the essential functions include moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic), and the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
