This position may be filled remotely in Kansas City, MO, or hybrid in our Kansas City, MO office.

The Senior AI Solutions Architect will spearhead the adoption and optimization of Microsoft Copilot within Husch Blackwell. Embedded within the Operations organization, this cross-functional role is responsible for enabling Copilot through technical integration, user advocacy, training, and governance alignment. This position serves as a strategic leader and connector, bridging internal AI strategy, enterprise learning, operations, governance, external partners, and end-users to ensure Microsoft Copilot is adopted effectively, responsibly, and consistently across the firm. Additionally, the role will serve as the primary owner of the Copilot relationship between Husch Blackwell and Microsoft, ensuring strong collaboration and alignment with Microsoft's product teams.

This role requires a visionary, technically skilled leader who blends enablement strategy with engineering expertise. The successful candidate will drive Copilot usage through a grassroots approach, meeting professionals where they are, understanding their workflows, and helping them unlock AI- powered productivity while ensuring compliance with legal industry standards. Additionally, the role demands strong people skills to effectively communicate, collaborate, and build relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders. Essential functions include:

Solution Architecture & Integration Subject Matter Expert

  • Architect and implement advanced, legally compliant AI solutions using Microsoft Copilot across Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, Power Platform).
  • Identify and support opportunities to embed Microsoft AI capabilities into operational workflows and tools.
  • Develop and maintain prompt libraries, automation templates, and reusable assets tailored to legal and business workflows.
  • Collaborate with practice area leads, KMI, Data Science, and others in the organization to translate AI functionality into usable, impactful solutions.
  • Tailor solutions for legal use cases including contract review, legal research, litigation prep, email summarization, document drafting, and client service delivery.
  • Provide feedback and insight on integration gaps, challenges, and opportunities from an operational perspective.

Copilot Roadmap & Readiness Lead

  • Maintain visibility into Microsoft’s product roadmap, Copilot configurations, and relevant enterprise-level administrative settings.
  • Monitor licensing changes, URL iterations, admin feature updates, and upcoming rollouts.
  • Ensure changes are communicated proactively and in alignment with internal governance direction and operational readiness.
  • Act as a liaison between end users and Microsoft product teams to surface insights and influence roadmap discussions.

Enablement & Training

  • Own and scale Copilot and Microsoft 365 enablement efforts across attorneys, legal assistants, operations, and support staff.
  • Partner with the Learning team to design and deliver demos, walkthroughs, and training materials that bridge enterprise learning goals with real-world legal and operational use cases.
  • Provide personalized Copilot support through 1:1 coaching sessions and bookable “Office Hours,” offering hands-on guidance, troubleshooting, and creative use case exploration.
  • Create engaging, non-technical workshops and self-service resources tailored to legal workflows and productivity scenarios.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing forums (e.g., “Coffee Chats,” CoE meetings), delivering practical guidance, feature highlights, and user tips.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Partner with attorneys, legal operations, KM professionals, IT, and leadership to understand needs and translate them into scalable Copilot use cases.
  • Drive and scale user adoption by identifying AI ambassadors within practice groups and equipping them with tools, guidance, and support.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to practice groups and departments exploring Copilot adoption.
  • Contribute regularly to the AI Advocate newsletter and internal success story channels to sustain momentum and knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare executive reports and presentations outlining project impact, user feedback, and value delivered.

Governance Enablement & Risk Management

  • Surface Microsoft AI updates, new features, and potential risks through the firm’s established AI governance workflows. Inform strategic conversations, planning, and execution of compliance oversight across key stakeholder teams.
  • Partner with governance leads to ensure enterprise direction and messaging are consistently aligned with user-facing communications.
  • Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to develop governance models for responsible AI usage.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory, ethical, and data privacy requirements specific to the legal sector (client confidentiality, retention policies).

Strategic Leadership & Development

  • Serve as the firm’s primary authority on Microsoft Copilot enablement.
  • Partner with leadership to define the long-term vision and roadmap for Copilot adoption, training, and integration across the firm.
  • Mentor colleagues fostering a culture of innovation, curiosity, and responsible AI usage.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify resourcing needs and shape the structure of a future Copilot enablement function. 
  • Partner with client-facing teams to explore how Copilot and generative AI can enhance legal service delivery, client collaboration, and competitive differentiation.
  • Partner with other AI team members in the development of a firmwide AI Center of Excellence (CoE) to coordinate AI and Copilot strategy, training, governance, and innovation. 
  • Explore and pilot emerging AI technologies beyond Copilot (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Viva Insights, Power Platform AI Builder) to extend the firm’s innovation capabilities.
  • Represent the firm in external AI and legal tech communities, contributing thought leadership and bringing back insights to inform internal strategy.

  

Position Requirements 

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in law, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field preferred; or combination of education and commensurate work experience required. A dual background in legal and technical domains is a plus. 
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud technologies and the M365 ecosystem.
  • Practical experience in implementing software or AI tools, ideally within the legal sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft CoPilot.
  • Proven track record of collaboration with IT teams, legal professionals, and third-party vendors.
  • A forward-looking, innovative, and problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear, empathetic, and business-relevant manner to diverse stakeholders.
