Production Manager – 1st Shift
📍 Owensboro, KY | 🕒 Monday–Friday, 7 AM–3:30 PM (occasional weekends)
About the Role
Hood Container Corporation is seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our Owensboro, KY plant. This role leads a team of full-time and temporary employees, ensuring production goals are met safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality. The Production Manager plays a key role in coaching and developing staff, driving continuous improvement, and fostering collaboration across departments to deliver on customer commitments.
How You Will Contribute
Lead safety, quality, productivity, and improvement initiatives for 1st shift.
Ensure compliance with plant safety rules, regulations, and best practices.
Deliver production plans on time and to quality/efficiency standards.
Set up and adjust production lines for maximum efficiency.
Manage and support Coordinators, Leads, and production staff on daily needs.
Track and enter labor and production data accurately.
Investigate and resolve quality, safety, or productivity issues (root cause analysis).
Ensure proper use of equipment and employee training documentation.
Review production paperwork for accuracy and compliance.
Provide coaching, feedback, and accountability to hourly production employees.
Maintain flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
What It Takes
Associate degree or 3–5 years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team motivation skills.
Continuous Improvement/Lean methodology experience (preferred).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills (preferred).
Industry experience in packaging solutions (preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Ability to work in hot/humid conditions with required PPE (steel toes, safety glasses, hearing protection).
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work shifts up to 12 hours if needed.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
