Job Description:

The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), an affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of State Relationship Account Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a stable organization that supports the public good and makes a difference every day. NIPR is a not-for-profit technology company that provides cost-effective, streamlined, and uniform licensing data and compliance services for insurance professionals. Together with the NAIC and the insurance industry, NIPR protects and serves insurance consumers. We are a licensing and compliance resource for insurance professionals, providing expertise, agile technical solutions, innovative tools, and data to support the changing needs of state regulators and the insurance industry.

NIPR is based in Kansas City, Missouri.  This is a full-time position which will allow a person to work remotely within the United States or hybrid in NIPR’s physical office space in Kansas City, MO.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate for the State Relationship Account Manager position will have excellent communication and customer service skills, along with the ability to build lasting relationships with those we serve. Knowledge of state insurance regulations or experience working in insurance or a government-regulated industry is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all state insurance credentialing operational and product needs.
    • Proactively communicate with states about new products, implementations, disaster recovery, and legislative changes.
    • Implement and assist with tools and procedures for measuring satisfaction for both external and internal customers.
    • Collaborate with staff to review, discuss, and improve the experience for all NIPR stakeholders.
    • Provide uniformity and reciprocity guidance to state regulators.
    • Act as a liaison between state regulators and other NIPR business and technical areas to respond to issues and inquiries.
    • Coordinate regular meetings with state regulators and vendors to discuss project timelines, specific requests, current and future products, document minutes, and recommended enhancements.
    • Educate states and territories on the utilization and implementation of all NIPR products and services through virtual or on-site visits.
    • Participate in conferences, NAIC/NIPR Insurance Summit, and deliver presentations as necessary.
    • Assist with the creation and maintenance of NIPR State Regulator Product catalogs, lists, statistics, charts, and metrics.
  • Implementation Management:
    • Act as a liaison between state regulators, vendors, and various NIPR and NAIC/SBS business areas during the implementation of NIPR products and services.
    • Collaborate on all aspects of testing, including pre/post go-live checklists to ensure productive implementation.
    • Coordinate with State Account Analysts, Senior Manager of State Implementations, and product teams to ensure proper deployment of new software and business functions.
    • Ensure state regulators fully understand NIPR’s products and services and work with the Business Analyst team to document all necessary requirements.
    • Develop and communicate timelines for state implementations based on NIPR resource availability.
    • Maintain detailed written records of implementations for peer review and training purposes.
    • Facilitate state follow-up review meetings after implementation.
    • Communicate effectively and timely with the Senior Manager of State Relationship Accounts, and the Senior Director of State Regulatory Affairs and states on pertinent information regarding product implementation, task lists, and timelines.

Skills and Experience:

  • Outstanding professional communication skills via email, phone, and in-person, with the ability to build strong rapport with customers.
  • Collaborative approach to working with teams to service state customers holistically.
  • Excellent follow-through, preparation, and organizational skills to ensure both external customers and internal teams are provided with up-to-date information.
  • Strong virtual and in-person presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, complex state insurance regulations and understand their impact on customers and NIPR.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, creative, and possess strong business standards and integrity.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and tools such as Salesforce and AHA is preferred.
  • Extensive analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound business decision-making skills with the ability to understand the “big picture.”
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Salesforce, JIRA, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time for state visits and conferences as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Three to five years of related experience, preferably in insurance or insurance regulation, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Compensation:

  • Starting at $110,000 up to $125,000, commensurate with experience and education.
  • This position is not eligible for commission compensation.
