Position Summary:
Atlanta Habitat is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Director of Development to oversee and execute philanthropic strategy to secure principal and major gifts. This role will lead efforts to steward and expand philanthropic support across individual, corporate, foundation, and government channels. The Director of Development is responsible for raising philanthropic support across funding from gifts of $10,000 and above, primarily in metro Atlanta and the South Fulton market.
The Director of Development will manage a dynamic team of three fundraising professionals and collaborate across departments to drive giving strategies across the organization to support multi-year capital projects and key programmatic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive annual fundraising strategies to fund support unrestricted and capital campaign goals.
- Build and manage a portfolio of principal gifts by top major donors.
- Lead stewardship efforts to deepen engagement with long-time, mission-aligned corporations, individual donors, and foundation partners
- Partner with the CDO and leadership team to define strategic goals and funding priorities.
- Oversee donor segmentation and implement moves management plans for qualified prospects.
- Host in-person and virtual donor visits to strengthen relationships and secure commitments.
- Supervise the Manager of Foundation Giving, Sr. Manager of Corporate Giving, and Donor Relations Manager.
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and organizational policies.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive fundraising experience, with a focus on major gifts and donor relations.
- Proven success in securing gifts of $10K+ and managing donor pipelines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and strategic planning abilities.
- Familiarity with donor databases and CRM systems.
- Commitment to Atlanta Habitat’s mission and values.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a criminal and credit background check and drug/alcohol screening.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance required.
- Occasional evening and weekend work expected.

This position is classified as a full-time exempt. Some evening and weekend work is required. Occasional driving around the City of Atlanta and South Fulton County is required; candidates must have a valid driver’s license. A hybrid work schedule is available.
