Atlanta Habitat for Humanity transforms communities by acting as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization through education, innovative development, partnerships, and long-term relationships with families. 


The ReStore is Atlanta Habitat’s home improvement outlet, open to the public. The ReStore generates revenue through the sale of donated and reclaimed building materials and supplies. All proceeds support Atlanta Habitat’s mission. The ReStore Loading Dock Associate supports the ReStore team by assisting truck drivers, loading and unloading donation trucks, stocking merchandise, and providing excellent service to donors and customers.


The ReStore Loading Dock Associate is responsible for:

  • Assisting on the ReStore trucks by helping drivers load and unload donations
  • Assisting the Sales staff with moving merchandise from the dock and storage areas onto the sales floor
  • Assisting customers on the loading dock by loading purchased merchandise and taking donations
  • Assisting with keeping the processing area organized and with processing incoming donations
  • with processing donated merchandise
  • Operating all equipment safely and assist with keeping equipment in service and stored correctly
  • Providing outstanding customer service to donors and customers


Job Conditions:

  • The position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Regular workdays for this position are Tuesdays through Saturdays. Some flexibility in schedule is required. 
  • This position is classified as non-exempt. 
  • The ReStore Loading Dock Associate reports to the ReStore Assistant Operations Manager and is a member of the organization’s ReStore Department.
  • This position is subject to a criminal and credit background check and drug and alcohol testing. 
  • The ReStore Loading Dock Associate is expected to use discretion and independent judgment in carrying out his/her responsibilities and to represent the organization in a professional, knowledgeable and collegial manner at all times.

Requirements


Education/Professional Credentials

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

Experience

  • Minimum one year of experience working with moving and loading dock equipment. Forklift experience preferred.  
  • Retail experience with construction or building materials/hardware preferred.

Skills

  • Good customer service skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, perform heavy manual tasks, and be capable of performing outside duties under all weather conditions.
  • Able to safely operate moving equipment, including pallet jack and forklift.
  • Able to interact with a variety of customers, donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Able to respond to emergency situations calmly and effectively.
