Start your career in public service.  The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is seeking candidates for the position of Social Services Specialist 1.  This position is located at the DFCS office in Rock Springs, Walker County, Georgia.

Start your career in public service.  The ICMA Coordinator plays a critical role in the SSAU’s (Social Services Administration Unit) success. This position requires a high level of knowledge in Federal and State Medicaid/ICPC adoption and foster care policy. The ICAMA (Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance) Coordinator is responsible for processing all ICAMA requests for in / out of state Medicaid for children that are moving to Georgia from another state. Handle all incoming/out-going calls and problems regarding Adoption Assistance Medicaid. Serve as a Medicaid liaison for customers in state and out of state. The ICAMA Coordinator is responsible for corresponding with the Revenue Maximization, Dept. of Community Health, and County and out of State worker regarding Adoption Medicaid. Fax all Medicaid request to Revenue Maximization Regional Supervisor for all out of state children. Take all phone calls regarding Adoption Medicaid for out–of-state and Georgia children that move out-of-state, from families, county worker, and agency and out of state staff. The ICAMA Coordinator is also responsible for entering each case into the SHINES database, so that Revenue Maximization can process and document their steps in SHINES. The ICAMA coordinator must extract and enter cases into the AAICAMA database. The ICAMA Coordinator assists the Unit Director with compiling a bi-annual Kenny A post adoptions report. Given the ICAMA programs federal regulations/ guidelines the coordinator must remain up to date on all changes with any Federal Medicaid policy and eligibility criteria, and the recently instituted Gateway eligibility system of Georgia. This position is critical to administering the Federal Title IV-E Medicaid program.

Position Duties

Pay Grade: H

Under broad supervision, performs a wide range of office administration duties for assigned functions or program areas, duties may be complex in nature and may involve access to confidential information. May research, investigate, and/or resolve program data or issues. Drafts documentation, reports, or presentations. Represents program or unit, provides information and assistance to internal and external customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Processes all in and out of state ICAMA Medicaid requests on a daily basis for children who are moving to Georgia from another state.
  • Addresses incoming and outgoing calls and concerns regarding Adoption Assistance Medicaid.
  • Serves as Adoption Assistance Medicaid liaison for customers in Georgia and out of the state.
  • Review relocated to GA closing adoption assistance supplements files of youth no longer receiving adoption assistance with setting up Medicaid/Medical assistance.
  • Corresponds with the Revenue Maximization staff, Department of Community Health and county and out-of-state ICAMA worker regarding Adoption Medicaid.
  • Transmit Medicaid requests to Revenue Maximization Regional Supervisor for all out-of-state children.
  • Addresses inquiries from families, county workers and agency and out-of-state staff regarding Adoption Medicaid for out-of-state and Georgia children who move out-of-state.
  • Enters case information into the SHINES database to allow for processing and documentation by Revenue Maximization.
  • Extracts and enters cases into the AAICAMA database daily.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Possesses a general understanding of Title IV-E and State Adoption Assistance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of job-related experience; 

OR

  • Two (2) years of experience required at the lower-level Admin Assistant 2 (GST051) or position equivalent.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:

  • Excellent oral, written, analytical, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment.
  • Experience in analysis of data
  • Experienced working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved, accredited college or university in a related field
OR
  • Associate’s degree from an approved, accredited college or university in a related field and two (2) years related work experience 
OR
  • Four (4) years related work experience 
OR
  • Two (2) year work experience at the most immediate lower-level position (Refer to State of GA Classification Structure)
