Role Overview:

Are you passionate about cloud and infrastructure technologies and ready to influence strategic direction in a dynamic IT environment? We’re looking for a Group IT Cloud & Infrastructure Specialist to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation, security, and scalability of both on-premises and cloud environments. This is a technical specialist role reporting to the Infrastructure & Cloud Manager, with no direct reports, but with significant influence across Group IT teams. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, driving innovation, defining standards, and supporting cloud adoption while maintaining compliance with industry best practices.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on…

  • Designing, deploying, and maintaining hybrid infrastructure solutions with a focus on performance, cost-efficiency, and security.
  • Leading technology exploitation initiatives to support business transformation and integration.
  • Identifying and documenting risks, issues, and critical success factors.
  • Promoting and maintaining design standards and development methodologies.
  • Creating control patterns, conducting risk evaluations, and ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
  • Providing specialist design support for Microsoft services and estimating costs for IT solutions.
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and optimising reliability.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with business goals.
  • Participating in audits, risk reviews, and change control processes.
  • Supporting out-of-hours operations as part of the on-call rota.

Your previous experience is likely to include….

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, particularly IaaS and PaaS infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience with networking, virtualisation, server management, and operating systems.
  • Proven ability to lead large cloud engagements, including infrastructure migration and application modernisation.
  • Demonstrable experience with Entra ID and IDAM practices.
  • Familiarity with Azure IAC and FINOPS is preferred.
  • Holding or working towards Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Experience as a trusted advisor influencing cloud and infrastructure adoption.
  • Strategic business acumen and the ability to align IT solutions with organisational goals.
  • Effective communication skills, including working with board-level stakeholders.
