Summary:

The Benefit Analyst supports all marketing and financial analysis aspects related to clients’ group benefit programs. The Benefit Analyst analyzes and evaluates the benefits offering, industry trends, and the client’s workforce strategy to strategically create and design various illustrations that aid clients in their decisions regarding their financial and benefit plan offerings. The Benefit Analyst works closely and collaboratively with the Benefit Consultant(s) throughout this process. The Benefit Analyst is responsible for having a deep knowledge of how the client’s plans are running to ensure the benefits plans are administered according to the plan provisions while identifying gaps and areas of interest unique to each client. The Benefit Analyst also attends client meetings and presents data findings when appropriate, adding value to the conversation and the decision-making process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Prepares plan performance (financial) reports, renewal projections, plan change pricing, contribution models, and other financial deliverables in support of client strategy
  • Creates accurate market exhibits and presentations of proposals and renewal information
  • Project manages and owns the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for each client in their book of business
  • Maintains accurate, current, organized, and complete market information in internal databases
  • Builds, develops, and maintains strong working relationships with carrier partners, consultants, and other internal team members.
  • Collect, research, audit, and interpret data and material required for the client’s renewal process, financial reporting, internal accounts, and deliverables.
  • Advises client on completing carrier deliverables and reporting findings throughout the plan lifecycle.
  • Records, documents, organizes and catalogs all files, source data, steps of the renewal process, and ongoing claims data.
  • Maintains industry knowledge to navigate the renewal process appropriately while advising on trends, employee benefits, plan designs, and legislation.
  • Reviews and critiques peers’ client deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Dives into carrier reporting and insight tools to help tell the clients’ utilization and projection story while using discretion about the client’s objectives and nuances of the industry.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Ability to analyze data and recognize analytical patterns
  • Proficient in math and quantitative concepts (ratios, weighted averages, percentages, etc.)
  • Strong organization, time management, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple and changing client priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to evaluate, adapt, and pivot to industry, internal team, company objectives, and client needs
  • Ability to effectively present data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Math, Accounting, or related field, preferred;
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, required;
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, required;
  • 1-3 years of translatable professional experience, preferred;
  • Experience working for a group insurance carrier, broker, or consultant, preferred;
  • Knowledge of group insurance products, including medical, dental, CDHPs, pharmacy, life, and disability, is strongly preferred;
  • Experience with database applications, a plus;
  • Project management experience a plus
