Scope:

BeVera Solutions is seeking a skilled Health Scientist II to support applied research and knowledge translation efforts in alignment with the CDC’s Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP). The Health Scientist II will contribute expertise in literature reviews, qualitative and quantitative research, and the development of practical guidance documents and dissemination products. The Health Scientist II will play a key part in advancing public health strategies and contribute to high-visibility projects, provide technical assistance, and support knowledge translation to improve prevention and management of heart disease and stroke.


Applied Research & Evidence Review

  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and synthesize scientific evidence to inform prevention strategies.
  • Identify best and promising practices through evidence review and partner interviews, ensuring compliance with OMB Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) requirements.
  • Prepare and submit research-related documentation, as required, in coordination with CDC.

Knowledge Translation & Dissemination

  • Develop a range of dissemination products (e.g., one-page briefs, 2–3 page reports, 8–10 page guidance documents) tailored to specific audiences.
  • Translate research findings into practical tools, manuals, and technical reports to support adoption of effective interventions.
  • Draft website content, presentations, and success stories that highlight DHDSP initiatives.

Project & Partner Support

  • Support high-visibility CDC projects, including coordinating speakers, developing presentations, and contributing to DHDSP events.
  • Provide technical assistance to grantees and partners on up to eight occasions annually, with limited travel as approved by the COR.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to align efforts and achieve project goals.

Reporting & Communication

  • Present findings and project updates to CDC leadership and staff.
  • Ability to synthesize scientific findings and communicate them in plain language.
  • Ensure all work products meet high standards of accuracy, clarity, and scientific rigor.
  • Contribute to progress reports, briefings, and other communications required by program leadership.

Requirements

Education: Master of Public Health (MPH) or related graduate degree.


Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the public health field.


Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong background in applied public health research, literature reviews, and program evaluation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate scientific findings for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with partners and cross-divisional teams.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Experience in heart disease and stroke prevention or chronic disease management.
  • Familiarity with CDC’s Program Evaluation Framework.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and developing Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials
  • Knowledge of OMB PRA processes and requirements.
  • Prior experience developing technical reports and guidance for federal or public health programs.
  • Experience collaborating with partners, grantees, or cross-divisional teams.
