Director of Welcoming Team Services
$89,000 - $92,000 annualized
(The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.)
Summary: The Director of Welcoming Team Services provides leadership and oversight of programs composed of multiple, multi-disciplinary service teams that both enroll and place members into FSP teams. These teams are Department of Mental Health (DMH) – funded Full Service Partnership (FSP) teams and provide integrated, wrap around services to individuals with mental health needs and other potential co-occurring conditions who are experiencing poverty. The director is responsible for: ensuring the delivery of quality care to members; assessing program needs; setting strategic priorities; program development; ensuring that program objectives are met; and coaching and mentoring an interdisciplinary staff. The director will serve as a key liaison with partnering agencies, the City of Long Beach, funders, and members of the local community around issues and partnerships related to this department. The director will also serve a key role in building relationships with partners and stakeholders connected with the ISC including new social enterprise initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive task list, and other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary by the supervisor or program director. - Provide leadership and oversight to the Welcoming team and one FSP team, ensuring excellent care and services are provided to members/clients and ensuring compliance with the ACT model, DMH, and MHALA standards.
- Provide guidance and oversight to staff outreaching, assessing, and enrolling members.
- Responsible for transitioning members into FSP and ICMS teams after enrollment.
- Provide ongoing strategic direction, support and training to social service staff; provide leadership in developing and refining site programs and procedures.
- Provide continuous guidance to staff in the development of comprehensive recovery and discharge plans; ensure that services are appropriate, integrated and delivered with respect for member needs and choices.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community resources that will benefit member/client needs.
- Work as a member of the program directors’ team to help create and support agency-wide, strategic program initiatives; work to establish excellent collaborative relationships with other agency departments.
- Work closely with agency leadership, including Development, Finance, Evaluation/Contracts, Training, Real Estate, HR, and Policy around initiatives and issues connected with department.
- Recruit, train and mentor staff.
- Facilitate regular, ongoing all-staff meetings and department leadership meetings.
- Foster transparent, open and direct communication, and ensure input from team members; communicate strategic direction of agency and programs articulately and clearly to department staff, addressing questions and concerns that staff may have.
- Oversee, monitor and analyze the program’s budget and billing goals in a manner that aligns with program’s funding streams and targeted fiscal goals.
- Oversee and ensure program’s data reporting to ensure accurate and timely submission and documentation.
- Ensure ongoing quality assurance checks of member files and facilities; ensure all notes and data collection are complete, timely, and accurate in the database and/or e-charts through on going chart reviews.
- Lead and attend planning and administrative meetings as required by funding sources.
Position Requirements:
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills; excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask and manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
- At least five years of progressively more responsible leadership experience in a social service agency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; tact and diplomacy; excellent relationship building skills; exceptional ability to communicate articulately and effectively in large group setting.
- Outstanding team building and facilitation skills; ability to build consensus and seek input.
- Extensive experience working with individuals experiencing mental health needs, physical health problems, substance use problems, poverty, and homelessness.
- Knowledge and experience in the mental health field.
- Ability to handle complex crisis situations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide supervision and leadership to diverse staff who possess a wide range of skills, abilities and professional competencies.
- Proven success developing and evaluating program models, and selecting and successfully operationalizing existing and innovative programs.
- Knowledge of community resources and experience building community relationships.
- Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with previous budgeting experience preferred.
- Flexible work schedule to include some evenings or weekends when necessary.
- Driving with current class C driver’s license, a vehicle for transportation, proof of valid automobile insurance, the ability to be insured by MHALA liability insurance are conditions of employment.
TB clearance and re-testing every year are conditions of continued employment. - COVID-19 vaccinations or booster shots are not currently required, however this may become a requirement in the future. Failure to abide by any agency policy, including those relating to a vaccine or booster shot may result in termination of employment
