Product Engineer General
Job Summary:
Our client in Dearborn, MI is looking for a Product Engineer General. This is a contract position.
What You Will Do:
Mass Properties Engineer – Core Benchmarking for segments as defined by JD Powers APEAL: Develop a competitor data set for the Weight Engineering metrics, (GVWR, GVMR, GAWR, Payload, Min-Max Tire Sizes, Powertrain and Transmission, Suspension architectures, Ferrous/non-ferrous Material usage map for the competitor vehicles, glass thicknesses) Develop an analysis of Competitor and Our Client´s Standard Weight enabling technologies, assemble data into the documentation format Develop an opportunity weight value for each non-standard weight technology. Implement process improvements to prevent errors states found on programs Update FAP to add new program’s audit requirements Continue to enhance ETW Validation Process so we do complete, quality validation work Manage tech reviews to standardize & simplify business processes.
Provide mass calculations for Vehicles Loads and ground reactions in various loading conditions, Handle data in support of legal labeling and spring selection, Evaluate failure modes in the verification process and lead projects to fix Knowledge of applied systems engineering, interface management, multi-attribute optimization, Background in applied statistics or Six Sigma subject areas, experience in Minitab, Solid Understanding of CAE tools (e.g. CATIA, Teamcenter, etc.) Primary skills preferred:
Skills Required:
Basics:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook.
- Microsoft Excel - proficient, skilled user.
- Microsoft Outlook – proficient, skilled user.
- Microsoft Excel – very proficient user who can understand the use of formulas, extensive formatting, and statistical functions.
- 1+ year of experience in the ground transportation and/or aerospace industry in an engineering/analytical capacity (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed).
- Onsite position. Expected to work onsite at least 4 days a week.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree.
- Project Planning.
- 5+ years of experience in the ground transportation or aerospace industries in an engineering/analytical capacity.
