The Duracell Research and Development organization researches and develops novel materials, products, and processes to continually deliver next generation technologies improving our products and manufacturing systems around the world.  This technician level position will work as part of a team tasked with execution of product cell builds to evaluate new materials and cell designs as part of the continual product development process. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to a healthy team culture in this fast-paced R&D learning organization.

Responsibilities

Please Note: As a condition of your employment with Duracell, you will be required to relocate to the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area during the summer of 2026.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Alkaline Cell Assembly - Prototype Build Activities:
•    Laser etching QR codes onto cans/consols 
•    KOH and water shot station setup, adjustment, changeovers and clean up
•    Anode filler servomotor profile adjustment and optimization
•    Anode pump servicing and rebuilding
•    Separator paper placement using manual rails
•    Changeover of touch tooling on rails
•    Offline sealant application
•    X ray of filled product to inspect for defects/verify fill quality
•    Cell Labeler operation and cell wipe down
•    Keyence Instant Measurement System for product dimensions
•    Semi-auto cutting of separator material for manual placement
•    Sealant formulating and verification with viscometer
•    Console and seal moisture measurement
•    Managing crimper settings via HMI to centerline precrimped and crimped product

Note that:
•    The position requires the worker to wear specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
•    The worker may be enrolled in the respirator fit program and Nickel monitoring program.
•    Some physical lifting of material containers from floor to waist height (typically 20lb but up to 30lb weight) may be required
 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•    Must adhere to safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.
•    Able to do hands-on work in mixing/testing materials and small part assembly
•    Handling of chemicals or other materials is required
•    Able to follow chemistry-related written procedures and instructions
•    Mechanical aptitude is required due to the mechanical nature of the equipment.
•    Familiar with basic statistics and adept at data processing
•    Excellent Microsoft office skills – Excel, Outlook email, Word, Teams etc..
•    Able to maintain clear, accurate records and create quality documents e.g. SOPs, Non-Conformances etc.…
•    Effective communicator – must be able to listen with comprehension as well as speak and write with clarity
•    Able to work as a strong, dependable, and accountable team player and build collaborative relationships.
•    Should have a technically curious nature and actively seek out knowledge.
•    Able to quickly grasp technical concepts and grow personal expertise.
•    Acts as an analytical thinker using sound judgement in practicing data-based decision making.
•    Demonstrates a positive and mature attitude while exhibiting integrity and directness/candor. 
•    Can provide and receive honest and open feedback in a constructive manner.
•    Quickly adapts to changing environments and business direction.
•    Able to work independently and be motivated to seek out work and meet deadlines


In addition to the above Job Duties, from time there will be a need to flow to the work in other areas of the Prototyping labs. After adequate training the successful candidate will be expected to be a productive contributor in those areas as well


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS
•    Experience working with chemicals in a lab or technical environment.
•    Experience with LabWare LIMS is a plus
•    Experience operating equipment using a Human Machine Interface is preferred.
•    B.S. in a technical/science field is preferred but A.S. would be considered for a strong candidate.
