System Analyst

Summary:
Our Core Banking team is searching for a highly skilled and proactive System Analyst to join our close-knit team. In this vital role, the applicant will be instrumental in the comprehensive monitoring, review, and maintenance of our core banking applications. Beyond routine support, this individual will play a critical role in incident response, contributing to change control processes, and actively participating in project management initiatives. This includes troubleshooting complex application issues, preventing recurrences through diligent problem management, and assisting with critical upgrades, releases, and evolving system requirements. This position demands a blend of effective communication, sharp analytical abilities, proven problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to produce reports, memos, and root cause analysis, to ensure secure and reliable banking operations.
Responsibilities:
- Core Application Management and Support:
- Proactively analyze, assess, monitor, and maintain existing core banking software applications and procedures to ensure optimal performance, stability, and system health.
- Develop comprehensive expertise in all software applications, serving as a primary point of contact for complex application issues.
- Take ownership of incoming problem tickets from end-users, swiftly resolving application and software issues across servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
- Incident & Problem Resolution
- Lead incident management efforts from initial identification through resolution, ensuring minimal impact and timely communication.
- Conduct thorough root cause analyses for critical incidents and recurring issues, developing and implementing strategies to prevent future occurrences.
- System Enhancement & Lifecycle Management
- Strategically recommend and execute essential software improvements and upgrades. Prioritize and administer all instances requiring enhancements or defect resolutions to maximize system efficiency.
- Actively participate in change control processes, ensuring all system modifications, upgrades, and new implementations adhere to established protocols and minimize risk.
- Contribute, support, and occasionally lead project initiatives related to system enhancements, new software implementations, and infrastructure changes, ensuring timely delivery and successful outcomes.
- Run and rigorously monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs, including identifying and correcting errors, validating post-testing upgrades, conducting general debugging, and isolating areas for continuous improvement.
- Actively participate in and orchestrate monthly disaster recovery exercises, contributing to roundtable discussions to enhance preparedness and resilience.
- Documentation, Reporting & Collaboration
- Develop clear and comprehensive documentation and resources for service improvement plans, crucial business continuity initiatives, and provide clear technical direction through precise process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts.
- Prepare and present detailed technical reports, memos, and root cause analysis reports to the Vice-President and other stakeholders, providing clear insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with network administrators, other software administrators, and external vendors to facilitate timely resolution of problems or incidents and coordinate project activities.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years of direct experience in system analysis, software troubleshooting, or IT support role. Experience within banking or financial services a plus.
- Proven experience with incident management, including troubleshooting and resolution techniques.
- Familiarity with project management and direct experience participating in change control processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with operational management software or ticketing systems.
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to define complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information for diverse audiences, including management, clients, and vendors.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged periods of sitting.
- Availability of after-hours and on-call support as part of a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7/365 coverage. While on-call, incidents are typically low-volume but require prompt, critical response.
