POSITION SUMMARY: Provide instructional assistance to students studying in the English Language Learning program, GED/HSED/HSED 5.09 program, college preparation, and general studies courses. Use technology to provide instructional support. Problem-solve, maintain, and troubleshoot technology needs.  Facilitate individual and small group learning activities. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):

(70%) Instructional Assistant 
•    Provide instructional assistance through individual tutoring in the GED/HSED/HSED 5.09 and ELL programs. 
•    Conduct individual intake sessions for ELL and Adult Education students. Complete and maintain records, files, and reports. 
•    Orientate students to facility and distribute appropriate instructional materials.
•    Administer and explain required documentation for enrollment to students and assist them with the completion.
•    Administer and score tests. Interpret and explain test results to students. 
•    Provide support and assistance to students in accessing computer programs and the learning management system.  
•    Support students’ unique educational needs and connect them to external and campus services. 
•    Work collaboratively with faculty to ensure student success and program success.
•    Facilitate individual and small group learning activities. 
•    Assist students in transitioning to other programs and provide continued support.

(30%) Program Support
•    Maintain communication between students and Lakeshore staff.
•    Communicate with both internal and external customers. 
•    Provide information to prospective and returning students related to program requirements, lab schedule, and class offerings.
•    Contact and schedule students for appropriate classes, tests, return appointments, orientation sessions, and appointments. 
•    Refer students to appropriate Student Services staff and/or support agencies. 
•    Maintain daily attendance and activities. 
•    Follow policies, procedures, and mechanisms to ensure integrity and security of academic records.
•    Follow testing Services procedures prior to GED/HSED testing.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•    Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related discipline required.  
•    Two to three years of relevant occupational experience.
•    Experience working with culturally diverse populations is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
•    The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. 
•    The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
•    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
•    Work environment may require multi-tasking.  
•    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
