SUMMARY
Utilizing initiative and independent judgment, the Managing Director of Security & Traffic Operations is responsible for planning, directing and managing the day-to-day leadership of the Security and Parking & Traffic Management departments at Lumen Field, Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater. Supervision is exercised over both full and part-time staff who direct various departments in venue and event operations for sporting events, stadium concerts, consumer trade shows, WAMU Theater concerts, corporate events and other various events.
The Managing Director is a strategic executive responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing all physical and event security programs for the company. This role entails collaboration across senior leadership, league officials, law enforcement and private sector partners to ensure a safe, secure and resilient environment for players, performers, staff, fans and assets. The Managing Director will lead innovative security protocols, leverage cutting-edge technology and foster stakeholder relationships to uphold the organization’s reputation for safety and excellence. Responsibility also includes direct oversight of the Parking & Traffic Management department. The Managing Director will directly supervise, direct and collaborate with the leaders of these departments to maintain excellent service for our patrons in a safe and profitable manner. The Managing Director will spearhead evaluation and development of recommendations to improve organizational administration, procedures, policies and programs to ensure the experience delivers the highest standard of safety and service to all guests, promoters, sponsors, vendors and athletes.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supervision of the Security and Parking & Traffic Management departments to include departmental budget, business plans, management development and event planning coordination.
- Partner with Business Analytics and Consumer Experience to continuously and strategically identify key drivers of fan/guest satisfaction through measurement, tracking, research and analysis of guest data.
- Develop KPIs for each line of business including financial, security, guest experience, parking and traffic management and client experience initiatives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact with the City of Seattle, Seattle Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation and all local and federal agencies in the planning and execution of venue events and overall stadium security.
- Responsible for oversight, compliance and renewal of DHS SAFETY Act.
- Advise senior leadership on emerging security threats, industry best practices and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, private security vendors and emergency responders to develop integrated response plans.
- In collaboration with the Director of Security oversee the design and enforcement of physical security measures including event access, crowd control, threat detection and monitoring of public spaces and crisis management protocols ensuring readiness for incidents affecting venues, personnel or the public.
- Ensure all physical security practices comply with local, state and federal regulations including OSHA and industry-specific standards.
- Prepare detailed security reports for senior staff including incident summaries, risk assessments and program outcomes in collaboration with the Director of Security.
- Collaborate and maintain open channels of communication between operations management and the Seahawks, Sounders, and Reign FC management.
- Direct the continued updating of comprehensive management reports and manuals (i.e., Emergency Response Plan, Security Manual, Parking Manual, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain expenses within the annually approved department budgets.
- Research, review and recommend equipment, materials and supplies required for maintenance and improvements.
- Partner with the Managing Director of Consumer Experience on creating initiative and programs to elevate consumer experience.
- Develop and maintain relationships with outside organizations, agencies and companies who frequently service events.
- Provide timely and effective responses to directives and requests received from internal and external organizations, agencies, departments and individuals; assure and maintain the integrity of the organization in all forms of communication and personal contacts.
- Actively monitor event activities to ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations and laws to ensure the highest levels of service are delivered to guests, clients and staff.
- Serve as the Manager on Duty (MOD) for venue events. MODs make immediate decisions and communicate with the Vice President of Stadium Operations/General Manager, Assistant General Manager, department heads and other personnel during emergency situations, in addition to assuming responsibility for the overall successful operations of the event.
EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT/TRAINING
- Oversee the departmental staff in the day-to-day management of their various departmental disciplines; review and evaluate processes and results; identify and resolve deficiencies and challenges.
- Serve as escalation point to client/employee inquiries, concerns and/or complaints.
- Prevent future issues by examining all past situations and maintaining a proactive thought process.
- Resolve employee related issues by working in conjunction with Human Resources, the manager/supervisor and the employee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Security Management or related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet these requirements may be substituted.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in law enforcement, intelligence, or private sectors, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
Skills:
- Proven track record in strategic planning, crisis management, risk assessment and program development within high profile sports, entertainment or public venues.
- Expertise in security technologies, including surveillance systems, access controls and incident reporting platforms.
- Strong relationships with law enforcement agencies, security vendors and league leadership.
- Ability to work under pressure, recognize problems and find solutions.
- Ability to work long irregular hours for an extended period as dictated by events and schedule. This will include weekends and holidays.
- Must have extensive experience drafting and maintaining departmental budgets.
- Proficiency in virtual meeting software and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required.
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Bilingual is a plus, but not required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has managerial responsibility of Lumen Field, Lumen Field Event center and WAMU Theater’s security, and parking and traffic management and staff
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Will be exposed to varied weather conditions when working events.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers.
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- This job requires many hours of standing and walking during events and on Gameday.
- The visual requirements include: the ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision and close vision.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- The salary range for this position is: $155,000 - $180,000. The salary range applies to the current posting. The posted salary range may vary based on key factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related knowledge, experience and skill set.
