About the Department
The Application Technician 2 - Fleet is responsible for coordinating and performing complex clerical, application, and record-keeping duties for the Department of General Services, Fleet Management division. In addition, the incumbent will also provide a variety of administrative duties in support of General Services upper management. This title may be utilized in various sections of Fleet Management. There will be varying shift options available for this position to include hybrid, days, nights, and weekends.
The men and women in Metro’s General Services Department are there to make sure the rest of government works. From ensuring that our city’s vehicles run safely and smoothly, to keeping city buildings up to par to providing printing services and more, General Services is the support that allows other Metro departments to focus and achieve their missions.
Position Duties
- Dispatches calls to on-call employees and vendors.
- Processes weekly/monthly reports for departmental and shop contacts.
- Processes month-end report to verify invoicing accuracy and provide strategies for improvement where needed.
- Researches and analyzes invoices and financial data for errors and corrections.
- Contacts vendors for invoices and updates on vehicle repairs.
- Verifies service invoices for contract compliance.
- Problem-solves issues with vendors and internal customers.
- Documents all financial transactions across multiple system applications.
- Creates sublets on work orders to support repairs and costs.
- Creates work orders for repairs in multiple different shops.
- Works with vendors on vehicle repair updates and approvals.
- Assists with downloads, exports and imports across multiple software systems.
- Assists with preparing directives and difficult correspondence.
- Assists Division Managers in budget preparations, reports and special projects, as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of applications, technical and/or financial related experience.

License Required: Valid Driver's License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

- Experience with Fleet based applications
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
