The Placement Strategist is responsible for developing and executing targeted job placement strategies for participants of the Veteran and Spouse Transitional Assistance Grant (VSTGP). The role involves working closely with participants to match them with suitable employment opportunities, engaging with local employers to create job opportunities, and ensuring participants achieve long-term employment success. The Placement Strategist will also collaborate with other team members to deliver a comprehensive set of services that address the employment needs of diverse participants.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Job Placement Strategy Development: Design and implement effective job placement strategies that align participant skills, experiences, and career goals with available labor market opportunities.
- Employer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers, industry partners, and training providers to secure job openings and placement opportunities for program participants.
- Customized Training and Workforce Solutions: Work with employers to develop customized training programs, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training opportunities that align with their specific needs.
- Participant Support: Provide individualized job search assistance, including resume development, interview preparation, and job application guidance. Support participants in overcoming barriers to employment.
- Job Matching: Conduct thorough assessments of participant skills, qualifications, and career goals to match them with appropriate job opportunities. Ensure a good fit between participant capabilities and employer needs.
- Labor Market Analysis: Stay informed about local labor market trends, employer needs, and economic conditions to adjust placement strategies and improve participant outcomes.
- Workshops and Training: Facilitate job readiness workshops and training sessions to equip participants with the necessary skills to succeed in the job market.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and improve placement strategies and participant services to enhance program effectiveness and participant satisfaction.
- Reporting and Compliance: Track and document participant progress, job placements, and retention rates. Prepare regular reports for program management and ensure compliance with WIOA guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with case managers, career counselors, and other staff to provide a holistic approach to participant support, including referrals to training and supportive services.
Qualifications and Position Requirements:
- Must have a passion for working and connecting with Veterans.
- A vital customer service and counseling expertise to multi-task is required.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Timeliness and attention to detail are essential.
- Must take the initiative; must think outside the box and simultaneously be able to work as part of a team towards unit goals
- Three or more years of experience working with priority populations.
- A background, experience in Case Management and/or Career Counseling, and prior military experience is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Be assertive, friendly, and willing to work flexible hours to meet objectives and goals.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Will work in an office environment and travel to community partners and events. Must lift 15 lbs. with a fair amount of sitting, answering telephone calls, and movement within the office. May be required to work some evenings and an occasional weekend day. Must be able to operate standard office equipment. A valid Driver’s License is required.
Education/Certification/Licensure
- BA or BS degree in Social Work, Career Counseling, or other related fields (may be substituted for experience) preferred.
