Job Description

Vanderbilt University is seeking a driven individual to serve as Digital Marketing Strategist for the Office of Learning Innovation, which is housed within the Institute for the Advancement of Higher Education in the Office of the Vice Provost

The Digital Marketing Strategist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day coordination of digital marketing campaigns, including the ideating, building, and optimizing of campaigns. The Digital Marketing Strategist serves as a coordinator, ensuring that academic programs have the necessary marketing support to meet their recruitment and enrollment objectives.

The Office of the Deputy Provost was established by Provost C. Cybele Raver in 2025 to strengthen Vanderbilt's ability to implement strategic academic initiatives and foster cross-institutional alignment. Led by Deputy Provost Tracey George, the office charged with advancing enterprise-wide priorities across schools and colleges, leading important special initiatives, and supporting the Provost in executing Vanderbilt's academic vision.

 
Duties and Responsibilities

The Digital Marketing Strategist will support the development and design of online and lifelong programs. They will work closely with academic program faculty and staff to develop unique marketing strategies and campaigns that will drive quality student enrollments. This individual will be responsible for serving and managing social media campaigns for internal and external stakeholders. An ideal candidate has strong communication skills, an appetite for collaboration, a deep understanding of digital marketing strategies, end user experience, and social media campaigns.

 


Support digital marketing and communications campaigns

  • Support the development of creative and effective marketing campaigns that increase academic programs’ student recruitment, enrollment, and brand awareness.
  • Deploy and optimize successful email marketing campaigns in HubSpot and/or Technosolutions Slate (a higher education CRM). Build workflows, sequences, and audiences for email marketing flows.
  • Assist in the execution and management of organic, non-paid marketing campaigns for academic programs and internal audiences. This may include the creation of assets such as social media content, news stories, calendar events, videos, and promo kits.
  • Assist in the development and execution of SEO and SEM strategies for a variety of websites, including academic program websites and Vanderbilt Online.
  • Collaborate with in-house digital media team to develop high-quality video assets.

Support marketing and communications initiatives across AdvancED

  • Support the execution of internal marketing and communications strategies to promote AdvancED.
  • Support social media marketing efforts for internal audiences.
  • Design creative marketing and communication assets.
  • Support on-site event coordination as needed.

Track and report on key performance indicators

  • Utilize dashboards to monitor and report on marketing success metrics such as cost per lead, cost per submitted application, and more.
  • Analyze and evaluate marketing campaign performance to inform future strategies.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
  • A professional certification in Google Analytics and Google Search Ads is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in digital marketing is necessary.
  • Experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Expertise in Google Analytics is necessary. Expertise in SEO strategy, digital marketing, paid social, and CRM optimization is necessary.
  • Experience working in WordPress is preferred.
  • Experience working and liaising with agencies and third parties is preferred.
  • Experience working effectively in cross-functional teams is necessary.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and the ability to deal with multiple constituencies concurrently to meet deadlines is necessary.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office 365, Zoom, and Teams is necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellence project management skills.
  • Ability to support and educate users with a variety of technical skills and backgrounds.
  • Creative and data driven.
