· Production Scheduling and Prioritization:

o Develop and manage manufacturing production schedules, setting priorities based on demand and production capacity.

o Monitor labor capacity and schedule shifts accordingly to ensure smooth operations.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration:

o Work with department managers across various functions (e.g., quality control, supply chain) to maximize productivity.

o Ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA), while managing the product lifecycle, ensuring that products are designed and manufactured according to design specifications, quality standards and cost constraints.

· Quality Control:

o Ensure that all production staff follow established workmanship quality standards and work instructions, producing high-quality products.

o Work closely with R&D, production, QA, supply chain and other departments to ensure manufacturing processes meet product requirements and specifications.

o Act as a liaison between engineering and production to facilitate communication and resolve any production-related issues.

o Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement including Kaizen workshops and events, and other quality initiatives aimed at reducing defects and improving productivity.

· Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:

o Actively resolve production issues, troubleshoot on the shop floor, and implement corrective actions to ensure process controls are effective.

o Ensure that all design documentation, including part drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions, is maintained and updated according to the revision control process.

o Ensure the ERP system is updated with accurate documentation and bills of materials (BOMs).

o Analyze production costs and identify opportunities to reduce waste, optimize labor and materials, and increase overall efficiency.

· Tooling and Fixture Design

o Design, develop, and maintain assembly fixtures, tools and other equipment used in the manufacturing process.

o Evaluate the need for new tooling and suggest improvements or upgrades to enhance efficiency.

· Team Leadership and Development:

o Lead, coach, and develop team members to help them reach their full potential. Train production personnel on new processes, tooling, and equipment to ensure they can operate efficiently. Develop training materials and visual aids to help reduce the learning curve for operators.

o Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during production such as instrument failures, quality issues, and process inefficiencies. Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.

o Foster a positive and supportive work environment that promotes continuous improvement.

· Supervisory Functions:

o Handle first-line supervisory duties, such as assigning tasks, approving time and attendance, and providing performance feedback.

· Material Management:

o Work closely with the supply chain team to mitigate material shortages and avoid delays in job orders that could impact production schedules. Support Supply Chain team as needed when engineering intervention or technical resource is required.

· Additional Duties:

o Take on any other tasks assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility in fulfilling various needs within the manufacturing environment.

Requirements
