About the Role
As a Revenue Focused Staff Accountant, you’ll play a critical role in accounting operations by supporting the day-to-day processes, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close and financial reporting. Your work will have a direct impact on our ability to continue to grow and scale as one of the premier Insurance technology companies in the country.
Please note: This is an onsite role working out of our Bethesda, MD office.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the monthly billing process
- Billing calculations
- Generation of Invoices
- Troubleshoot deposits, expenses, and customer payment variances and adjustments.
- Maintain customer contact and payment information
- Assist with Month-end close, including but not limited to:
- Trial balance account reconciliations
- Merchant account reconciliations
- One-off & recurring journal entries
- Processing weekly/monthly bank deposits
- Accounts Receivable duties:
- Assist in the processing of new sales orders
- Responsible for ongoing customer receivables/collection issues
- Monthly accounts receivable reconciliations
- Apply payments received to customer balances
- Assist in year-end financial audit and any other compliance requirements
- Research and advise on new accounting standards
- Document policies and controls
- Ad-Hoc request/projects/responsibilities
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in from accredited university
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Understanding of recognition, cost center, chart of accounts and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft products – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-Starter with ability to work independently and think critically
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Bonus Points:
- NetSuite and Salesforce experience preferred
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance from accredited university
- Insurance industry or SaaS experience
