Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking a part-time Client Intake Specialist to join its clinical support team.
Job Description
DBH is committed to providing exemplary customer services to its clients and employees. As a member of the Clinical Support team, the Intake Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for clients seeking behavioral health services. This position is responsible for gathering demographic, insurance, and clinical information; assessing immediate needs; and coordinating with clinical staff to facilitate timely access to appropriate services. The Intake Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that clients feel welcomed, informed, and supported through the initial steps of the care process.
Essential Job Functions
The Intake Specialist Is responsible for performing the following essential job functions at the expected level and within the expected timeframes:
- Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries regarding services.
- Complete intake assessments to determine client needs and appropriate levels of care.
- Schedule initial appointments and provide information about clinic procedures.
- Enter accurate client data into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth client onboarding.
- Other duties and responsibilities and needed and assigned.
In addition, the Intake Specialist is responsible for performing the following tasks:
- Conduct screening interviews with potential clients using standardized tools.
- Identify high-risk or crisis situations and promptly escalate to clinical staff.
- Provide referrals and resources to individuals who are not eligible for clinic services.
- Track and follow up with clients who miss intake appointments or need rescheduling.
- Support coordination of care with external agencies as needed.
- Maintain updated knowledge of clinic services, provider schedules, and intake procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
- Other duties and responsibilities and needed and assigned.
Employment Classification, Schedule, and Work Environment
This position is classified as part-time, non-exempt.
Part-time employees at DBH must work less than 30 hours per week. The specific schedule for this position is outlined below:
- Monday through Wednesday, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Thursday, 11:00 pm to 5:00 pm
The work environment is describe below:
- Standard office setting within a behavioral health clinic.
- Regular interaction with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
- Moderate noise level; fast-paced and team-oriented.
Experience and Qualifications
Required Experience
- Clinical support positions at DBH require a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a medical office or clinical setting.
- Previous customer service skills are required.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience working in a behavioral health clinic or facility is preferred.
- Previous experience working with medical insurance and billing is also preferred.

The Intake Specialist must possess the following qualifications, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- All employees at DBH must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check as well as a pre-employment drug screening. Since Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants the company and its employees must comply with the Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- A clean driving record is also required to utilize the DBH vehicle fleet.
- Bi-Lingual Spanish: Bi-lingual English/Spanish fluency is beneficial to perform all essential job functions in both English and Spanish, but is not required. A Spanish-language incentive stipend is available for candidates who successfully pass a Spanish-language assessment upon hire.

The Office Specialist - Intake must possess strong verbal communication skills and have demonstrated professional customer service experience. The successful candidate must also demonstrate compassion, courtesy and respect to all clients and their families. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish immediate rapport with clients.

Compensation
Starting pay for this position is $18.00 per hour.
$28.85 per pay period Spanish-language incentive available. Must successfully pass a Spanish-language assessment.
Experience and Skills
Minimum Requirements
All candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background screening and drug screening.
DBH utilizes an electronic medical health records system, so computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.
High school graduation and one year of full-time employment in a related clerical field. Microsoft Word and Outlook knowledge preferred. Typing a net of 35-40 wpm preferred but not mandatory.

DBH Criminal Background Check & Drug Screening Disclaimer
Davis Behavioral Health is a drug-free workplace and requires all employees to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
