Location: Washington, DC
SUMMARY: While delivering innovative solutions, exceptional service, and trusted results, the Outreach Specialist conducts community-outreach and customer-engagement activities for TANF customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate contact with referred customers and encourage them to engage with KRA and participate in mandated work activities. TANF recipients may require repeated attempts at engagement.
- Re-engage customers who were engaged, but who subsequently terminated participation.
- Share information about outreach and engagement efforts with Case Managers.
- Inform Case Managers of any barriers identified that routinely prevent the customer from engaging fully with KRA.
- Work independently with a keen sense of focus and boundaries that are task-oriented and non-judgmental.
- Energetic, resilient, and results-driven; ability to perform and maintain outcomes within a fast-paced environment.
- Work in a variety of settings with diverse customer base with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
- Work with customers in a caring and respectful manner, understanding and considering their unique circumstances.
- Work with individuals during times of crisis.
- Travel and conduct site visits at customers’ homes and employment and work experience sites.
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university. The degree requirement may be substituted with four (4) years of professional work experience.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the internet, e-mail, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams) and other Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
