We’re looking for an Interim Senior Director of Digital Marketing to play a crucial role in driving the company's online presence, customer engagement, and revenue growth.  This role is responsible for developing and executing digital marketing strategy for Lawson Products and Kent Automotive, overseeing various digital channels, managing teams, and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Responsibilities encompass website management, SEO, paid media, content marketing, email marketing, and social media.

Our corporate headquarters is in Chicago, IL. This role operates on a hybrid work model; employees spend two days working in the office and three days working remotely. We offer 401k plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes overall digital marketing strategy, including setting goals, identifying target audiences, selecting appropriate channels, planning and programs (including: web, email, social media, SEM and SEO, digital catalog), coordinating Digital Marketing communications (including: sales support, webinars, and Lawson’s employee intranet), and the management of the resources that support these activities. 
  • Leads and manages the digital marketing team, building and mentoring a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
  • Oversees all aspects of digital marketing channels, including SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, content marketing, and website management.
  • Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing data, and optimizing campaigns to improve ROI and achieve business objectives.
  • Manages and allocates the digital marketing budget effectively, ensuring efficient spend and maximizing ROI.
  • Ensures alignment and integrated campaigns, collaborating cross-functionally with other marketing teams, sales teams, and other departments.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest digital marketing trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Assists with other duties and projects as directed by management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or a similar major, with at least 10 years’ experience achieving increasing levels of marketing management responsibility in customer life-cycle management, direct mail, email, content management, and online marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. B2B marketing experience preferred. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy aligned with business goals
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and foster a positive work environment
  • Deep understanding of various digital marketing channels, including SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and content marketing
  • Customer life cycle management experience in a high-volume, transactional business with a large, broad product portfolio
  • Experience identifying emerging digital technologies and trends and developing innovative solutions that add significant value to customers
  • Proven email and direct-response marketing experience with a passion for quantitative analysis
  • Experience executing website content, online promotions, email, SEM/SEO, PLAs, and direct response campaigns
  • Experience creating online, email and SEM/SEO campaigns for sales and service operations
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team under tight deadlines with changing priorities
  • Effective time-management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and juggle multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and optimize campaigns for improved performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make presentations to senior leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Self-motivated and willing to contribute to a strong team environment
  • Experience in managing and allocating marketing budgets effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience managing external vendors (Bronto, ExactTarget, Dirxion, etc.)
