Maintenance Manager - Metals

Department: 51 Maintenance Location: Shawnee, OK

Job Summary:

Responsible for the oversight and management of all facility and maintenance related functions to support world-class plant operations. Including equipment preventative maintenance, facilities, and grounds maintenance. Is responsible for leading and directing all maintenance team activities, development and adherence to preventative maintenance plans, managing departmental budget, and providing a collaborative approach to excellence in safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence activities.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provides safety leadership within the maintenance team, including development of new safety policies and procedures to support world-class practices.
  • Supports defined safety regulations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards
  • Provides strong leadership and mentorship of the maintenance team, by promoting high standards
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills and the ability to sustain
  • Hires, trains, and manages maintenance staff, providing guidance, and fosters a positive, employee-centric work environment
  • Manages daily maintenance tasks, schedules repairs, and ensures all equipment and facilities are in good working order
  • Creates and implements preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of assets
  • Responsible for diagnosing and resolving equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
  • Controls maintenance expenditures, forecasts costs, and ensures efficient allocation of resources
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, generating reports, and tracking departmental objectives via key performance indicators
  • Controls and monitors critical component inventory for machinery in ERP system to minimize plant downtime
  • Conducts risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses a wide variety of machine malfunctions
  • Coordinates and manages maintenance and facilities work performed by outside contractors
  • Ensures all company vehicles are clean, fueled and in proper working order!
  • Manages departmental budget including AFE�s and CAPEX projects. Monitors expenses and controls budget
  • Sources required parts and materials for repairs on projects and maintains positive relationships with suppliers

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams, provides guidance, and fosters a positive work environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel, as well as with key stakeholders
  • Strong 5S, housekeeping skills that align with world-class maintenance programs
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, ladder diagrams, logic, and schematics
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues, analyze data, and make informed decisions
  • Budget management skills, including the ability to manage financial budgets, track project expenditures, and identify cost saving solutions
  • Provides a minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing Maintenance Management role managing a multiple personnel team
  • Understands the principles and tools of Operational Excellence, previous experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), previous ERP experience preferred
  • Supports ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHA 18801 certification requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment
  • Maintains strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Preferred experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) condition and predictive failure monitoring, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) tools, and Operational Excellence (Lean) methodologies
  • Direct knowledge and experience with control software, including PLC logic programming
  • Direct knowledge and experience with electrical ladder diagram (Development, Modification, Troubleshooting)
  • Direct knowledge and experience with electrical code requirements (NEC), including main electrical switchgear repair and arc flash requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Robotics (Servo / End Coders) is preferred

Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions:

  • Typical office/factory environment with exposure to ambient temperatures in un-conditioned production areas
  • Exposure to general production machine noise levels
  • Exposure to hazards such as electrical and moving mechanical parts

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, grasping, feeling, walking, and hearing
  • Requires some overhead lifting of up to 40 pounds objects (boxes, trash bags, odd shaped items, equipment components, etc.)
  • Required to lift 50 pounds and move odd shaped objects (desks, tables, etc.)
  • Required to work a 40-hour work week, with overtime as required to support plant operations
  • This position is considered a safety sensitive position as defined by Oklahoma House Bill 2612 in relation to the legalization of medical marijuana in the state of Oklahoma.
