Position Description 

Reporting to the Director, IQI, the Quality Management Specialist, IQI is responsible for research and development of tools to: consolidate and curate knowledge that continuously informs AAAHC Standards development and compliance, survey and Surveyor processes, and AAAHC learning offerings. This role analyzes and reports accreditation performance results to identify client improvement opportunities, manages the benchmarking study report generation against national clinical practice guidelines and relevant evidence-based healthcare literature, and provides easily implementable and practitioner-focused tools that increase patient and employee safety and facilitate organizational compliance with AAAHC Standards. This role is integral to advancing our organizational mission and realizing our strategic theme to “measurably drive quality improvement in patient care.”

Institute Research

  • Structure and analyze accreditation and certification survey results to inform improvements in AAAHC Standards, client and surveyor learning opportunities, and client organization focus on areas requiring quality improvement
  • Coordinate with Business Intelligence to collect and format client Standards compliance and deficiency data for incorporation into data stratification models for the annual Quality Roadmap report and other management ad hoc reports
  • Maintain proficiency in use of 1095 Engage with focus on client modules and Standards Builder
  • Benchmarking Study Development
  • Deliver quality improvement Benchmarking Studies that positively influence healthcare quality and provide clients with useful benchmarks to implement within their organization
    1. Design and continuously improve study format and data collection and analysis models; program online survey forms using appropriate logic
    2. Provide customer service to assist clients with program registration, data submission and report interpretation; monitor IQI inbox and routinely provide timely response to client inquiries
    3. Clean collected data using pre-determined rules; analyze and incorporate data into reports and finalize reports for review by AAAHC Subject Matter Experts (SME) and IQAC
    4. Review and update Benchmarking Study references to ensure relevance and accuracy
    5. Identify best performers and reach out to identify best practices for incorporation into study results
    6. Serve as department LMS and online survey tool expert; manage core LMS/statistical functions and logistics, including registration setup and monitoring for Benchmark Studies
    7. Monitor report generation turnaround time to ensure timely client delivery
    8. Governance Support
  • Serve as secondary Staff Liaison to assigned committees supporting primary Staff Liaison with meeting/conference call schedule, agenda and related materials development, meeting minutes draft/approval; maintain BoardEffect portal information for committee communication and minutes approval

Other QI Offerings

  • Provide administrative support in the implementation of the annual Bernard Kershner Innovations in QI Award program to recognize exemplary studies, encourage participation in QI studies, and improve patient care
    1. Prepare annual online application for QI study submission; organize submissions for effective IQAC evaluation, and collate and analyze IQAC ratings
    2. Follow-up with finalists on webinar and Achieving Accreditation conference participation logistics 
  • In collaboration with Director, IQI, support revision and new development of easily implementable, practitioner-focused tools (e.g., toolkits, white papers) that increase patient and employee safety and quality of patient care and facilitate client compliance to AAAHC Standards

Minimum Qualifications and Job-specific Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Education, Healthcare Administration, Public Policy or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum two years work experience including internships, part-time positions, or relevant volunteer work
  • Analytic thinker with demonstrated skills in data cleaning and analyses, and research literature review and synthesis
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills; demonstrated time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience manipulating large, complex datasets; proven technical acumen in planning and problem-solving and intense attention to detail
  • Strong reasoning, analysis, critical thinking, and language abilities (reading, technical writing, and speaking), with effective communication, technical writing and editing, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams), online survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Verint), and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for querying and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field (e.g., Business Administration, Data Analytics, Education, Healthcare Administration, Public Policy) or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in quality improvement and performance measurement methodology and implementation, survey and other study design and administration
  • Experience in health care industry
  • Experience facilitating consensus-seeking processes in a multi-stakeholder setting, specifically with facilitating virtual consensus-seeking and content-creation processes
  • Experience with SPSS, SAS, R, Python (or other statistical analysis and data mining packages)

Working Conditions & Travel Expectations

  • Occasional evening conference calls not to exceed 3 calls/month
  • Travel: <10% including weekend meetings (e.g., association, client, and committee meetings); 2 meetings/quarter

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
