Intern - Zoning Job Details:
Snell & Wilmer L.L.P., one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the western United States, is currently seeking an Intern in the Zoning Practice Group in our Phoenix office. This paid internship is 20 hours per week and offers a flexible, in-office schedule Monday through Friday, making it easy to balance with your academic commitments.
This exciting internship opportunity will provide exposure to and experience in working with governmental staff, various ordinances, codes and general plans for a wide range of communities and exposure to the entitlement and land development processes of a variety of municipal and county governments.
The ideal candidate is a team player that enjoys working on a wide variety of projects, is focused on the details and desires to grow their professional skills in current planning processes from a developer/applicant perspective.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Research and review property entitlements
- Responsible for making appointments with governmental representatives.
- Assists in the preparation and filing of rezoning, site plan, zoning adjustment, and other land use entitlement applications, as needed.
- Assists in maintaining digital and physical project records, as needed.
- Files all correspondence and emails into the electronic filing system.
- Manages project timelines and tracks tasks/deliverables.
- Responds to phone calls and emails in a professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a bachelor’s program, or in a master’s degree program, in Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, Sustainability, or a closely related field.
- The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization and communication skills required
- Basic understanding of the common principles, practices, and methods used in Urban Planning.
- Experience in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent application system.
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
