LOCATION: Lakeshore College – Cleveland, Wisconsin
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing specialized work in Financial Aid with an emphasis in veteran benefits. Assist in coordination of all districts financial aid programs and agency benefits. Provide financial aid advising and recommendations to customers. Analyze, reconcile, and resolve issues with financial data for all financial aid programs. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):
(50%) Financial Aid
- Provide 5 Star Customer Service: Advise students regarding resolution of complex individual financial aid problems. Advise enrolled and prospective students concerning the financial aid process and financial planning of school-related expenses. Explain technical or complicated information concerning individual financial aid eligibility/awards in an informative and sensitive manner.
- Financial Aid Authorization: Responsible for the authorization and release of financial aid in accordance with all regulations. Ensure that financial aid has been appropriately disbursed or credited based on the student status.
- Maintain Compliancy: Assist financial aid manager as needed. Assist in the development of office policies, procedures, and operational documents. Provide back up for assigned exit loan counseling. Serve as back up for communication generation. Serve as backup for submitting verification reporting. Serve as the college’s non-primary DPA.
- Processing Student Data Records: Import, export, and analyze data records using Serve as backup for monitoring incoming ISIRs for discrepancies and student outreach.
- Determine Satisfactory Academic Progress: Review each student aid recipient's academic performance and determine whether academic progress is being achieved and communicate results to internal and external customers. Analyze warning/probation/suspension/academic appeals and plans.
- Remote units and classes: Serve as backup for shared programs and consortium agreements for students and staff.
(50%) Veterans
- Certification and Eligibility: Coordinate veteran’s benefits with financial aid by maintaining and amending awards. Monitor satisfactory academic progress and program graduates. Report necessary information to the Veteran’s Administration and students. Process/analyze information received and send enrollment certifications either electronically using software or by paper copy. Calculate supplemental stipend payment for chapter 33 Post 9/11 veterans. Determine eligibility for veteran priority registration.
- Maintain Compliancy: Research and keep abreast of new and changing federal and state regulations and programs by attending education opportunities. Maintain student files according to Veteran’s Administration regulations, work with program reviewers for federal and local audits. Maintain membership and participation in WACRAO; serve as designated user to Federal Army Tuition Assistance and Navy Tuition Assistance; serve as the College’s primary Certifying Official. Coordinate and maintain WI GI Bill program. Submit and maintain listing of new program information and program changes to the federal Veteran’s Administration.
- Complete Reporting: Complete required federal, state and local reports in a timely manner, such as state Veteran’s Administration forms. Collaborate with Student Billing regarding payments, refunds, and return of funds for federal and state Veteran’s Administration Benefits. Coordinate with required staff to receive and complete Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding as well as Military Friendly School Survey within required timeframe.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related discipline required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two to three years of relevant occupational experience required.
