Position:  

The Landscape Forman’s role is to supervise and coordinate landscapers and turf maintenance techs. to ensure well-maintained grounds, proper and safe use of tools, and responsible allocation of resources. Landscape foremen assign tasks, train workers, and monitor performance.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Landscaping Manager in the planning and supervising of the maintenance operations of landscaping areas and grounds. 
  • Instruct Landscaping and Turf Maintenance crew on the operation and proper care of equipment. 
  • Supervise and participate in pesticide/fertilizer applications. 
  • Supervise and participate in planting design, deadheading, pruning, weeding, watering, and general upkeep. 
  • Support and supervise in the operation and maintenance of pumps and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems. 
  • Oversee the completion of work assignments by crew members establish  monitor and evaluate work standards and safe equipment use, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and training, and promoting and recognizing quality performance.
  • Perform routine checks of landscaping, gardening, and irrigation areas and systems to ensure proper function and appearance.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness and attention to detail. 
  • Use company tools, vehicles, and equipment safely and with respect. Report damage or problems to department supervisor. 
  • Perform hand digging, lifting, and physical work where needed.
  • Assist in  turf maintenance around The Resort at Paws Up to specifications by operating and using hand and power mowing equipment.
  • Operate various mowers, string trimmers, hand tools, and light maintenance equipment. 
  • Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment daily.
  • Report equipment problems or failure to the Maintenance, Fleet  and Landscaping Managers. 
  • Clean the maintenance areas according to schedule.
  • Assist with grooming and maintaining activity trails.
  • Assist with pest control on resort grounds. 
  • Follow fertilizing and core aerating schedules.
  • Communicate with the Landscaping Manager promptly and fully inform of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so that prompt and corrective action can be taken when appropriate.
  • Complete all Landscaping duties as assigned. 
  • Maintain timelines and priorities. 
  • Maintain flexible hours to accommodate guests and special event needs.

Looking for Team Members with: 

  • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related course work
  • Working knowledge in Horticulture and Landscaping
  • 2+ years of experience in supervising a team
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team
  • Experience operating small lawn maintenance equipment
  • Experience with operating small equipment such as skidsteers, tractors, and other like equipment
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proficient ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and prioritizing workload throughout the day
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills
  • Valid State Driver’s License
