JOB HIGHLIGHTS
POSITION PURPOSE:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile general accountant with proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions. The ideal candidate will manage procurement activities while providing support for financial processes, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. This role requires a proactive individual with a solid understanding of pre-paid and deferred accounting concepts and can handle multiple priorities with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Full time
- This position currently involves a hybrid working model with 2 days remote, and 3 days in-office in Detroit, MI.
WHAT WE REQUIRE:
- Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license (most positions).
- Bachelor’s degree or commiserate experience.
- 4 – 6 years of years of experience with A/R, A/P, Purchasing and general ledger functions.
- Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.
- 5+ years’ experience with A/R,A/P and Purchasing.
- Experience in the Travel/Tourism/Hospitality industry
- Netsuite accounting software a plus.
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:

- Review and check all requests from staff that are generated in the Dlogic purchasing module. Including but not limited to specifications, quantity, department head approval and budgetary restrictions in accordance with company purchasing policies.
- Order product and issue purchase orders for all approved requisitions. Prepare bids and negotiate purchases (i.e., specialty items and print materials) in accordance with company purchasing policies.
- Work with Accounts Payable to receive and post all invoices related to purchase orders.
- Process all corporate American Express purchases.
- Maintain accurate and updated contractual information for all Visit Detroit active contracts.
- Maintain database integrity for the purchasing module and perform a monthly audit of outstanding purchase orders.
- Assist in invoicing customers and recording receivables.
- Support month-end and year closing processes.

OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
- Assist the Vice President, Finance & Administration/CFO with special projects as assigned.
- Serve on cross-function task forces.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to secure competitive bidding and locate source of suppliers.
- Knowledge of the methods, practices and procedures involved with the purchase and delivery of materials and suppliers in compliance with the Visit Detroit purchasing guidelines.
- Knowledge of value analysis and the legal aspects of purchasing.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to clearly express thoughts, ideas, and concepts, verbally and in writing, in the English language.
- Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and analyzing multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to think and manage creatively in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Maintains a positive and professional work attitude, appearance, and behavior even in the most demanding situation.
- Ability to work effectively in both remote and in-person work environment; proficient using video conferencing software and other remote work tools.
- Proficient in using personal computer software and applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office work involves extended periods of sitting or working at a desk, utilizing repetitive typing motions on a computer or laptop, and reading text on a video display monitor.
